Does anyone have a good Rega RB300 they are willing to part with ? I need one for a turntable renovation in the works. Cheers Graham

What's the problem with your RB300 BTW?

The plastic base that forms the cueing device mount and arm rest has cracked. I've seen this on a few Rega arms as it is rather weak and cant stand any rough handling. To replace it, assuming one could be sourced, involves complete dismantling of the arm including the vertical bearings which is not recommended and a bugger of a job. Hence the request to find a replacement arm.

This is what happened to the arm in transit with no other damage or signs of impact. Maybe it was already weakened but certainly I hadn't seen a crack. It fortunately had a very clean break so I have managed to carry out an almost invisible repair using industrial strength adhesive. ( Super super glue !) From searching the internet it appears this is not uncommon on the RB250 and 300 arms as the plastic moulding is quite weak at this point. Apparently a common cause of this fracture is owners holding this housing to prevent the arm rotating while tightening the securing nut underneath. Rega state that this securing nut should only be finger tight anyway !! Anyway it is now all sorted and probably stronger than when new.

Super super glue... Could you please name the product. Useful for reference. Thanks... 'Super' super glue is just my definition of quality CA ( cyanoacrylic acid ) adhesive. I'm sure all super glues use the same chemical composition but I suspect some of the cheaper brands are diluted or messed with to reduce cost. For critical applications I use Loctite 406 or Loctite Liquid Professional.
