The Guardian forgot to mention that running the data centres needed for streaming uses vast amounts of power:

The other parameter is lifecycle: contrary to most things made today vinyl records have a long lifecycle, get passed hand to hand for generations so it’s a once-off environmental cost. Most things produced today (take mobile phones) get thrown away after a few years.
