I'm no help on anything post Goats Head Soup as that's where I closed the book on the Rolling Stones. There's not a lot around currently at what I would call reasonable prices. Besides the box set that Citroen noted there is the earlier 1964 - 1969 set issued by Abkco in 2010 . I suspect that it may have used the 2002 DSD remasters which are generally held to be pretty good. I know on various forums that the 2002 hybrid SACDs are still the go to for many. The only two Box sets I have experience with containing a run of albums are The Rolling Stones in Mono www.discogs.com/The-Rolling-Stones-The-Rolling-Stones-In-Mono/release/9147559and The First Eight Studio Albums, which to be honest you probably have a snowballs chance in hell of findings unless you have an exceedingly generous friend who gifts you a copy. www.discogs.com/The-Rolling-Stones-The-First-8-Studio-Albums/release/11582416I'm happy with the sound on both sets although for me the early period is definitely best in Mono. The mono box I think is well done with the exception of a couple of the covers which don't match up to the originals. Here's an exhaustive review of the set theaudiophileman.com/stones-mono/The First Eight Studio Alums set is said to use original stampers but there is so little information around on this . If you have the time to trawl through Discogs there are quite a few smaller box sets listed from the likes of Germany, usually in the 1980's . Sorry can't be of more help

prices are all over the place on that box.
from $843.77 (?) uk seller shipped to nz to $1000 from mightyape.
for that sort of ca$h you could put together a set of uk or japanese pressings ?

Was lucky enough to pick up a 2nd hand set of The Rolling Stones - The Greatest Years, a 4LP box set issued by Readers Digest in 1982, very cheaply back in the 90s. Now discogs lists from $40 NZ. A great set featuring all their early hits ending in You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

I knew I should've grabbed a set last year when it was only GBP150... Not really, as I'm not a big Stones fan.

I have liked the Stones since I heard Not Fade away as a 12yr old. The only albums I listen to are the first 2 and Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed and Sticky Fingers. Most of the rest disappoints me in comparison. There is a very good collection of live performances that were released with a "recent" Sticky Finger's reissue I think, that are great for the occasional listen.

I have a zippered Sticky Fingers reissue which is a pain as the zip digs into nearby albums

I'm a 'sideline' Stones listener, as opposed to true 'fanboy' My favourite vinyl is: - good enough for a sideliner But I do have a soft spot for this album: mostly for (at last) showcasing how critical Charlie and Bill were as a rhythm section for the band. Truely under-rated, they were... Later, Cooksferry recommended this silver disc set: ...all I need, thanks. (I was a dedicated Who fanboy in those early years)

fine choices.
i have a smattering of stones albums but my go-to's are let it bleed and rolled gold on vinyl, and the 2 cd set forty licks.

Truely under-rated, they were... Later, Cooksferry recommended this silver disc set: ...all I need, thanks. (I was a dedicated Who fanboy in those early years) I have the original Rolled Gold from release but I've read good things about the reissue which I believe adds some extra tracks. Not over fussed on the sound of my Rolled Gold but I don't think any of the Stones records would qualify as audiophile quality. The London Years single collection is a great one. Their are two versions and according to real Stones fans (I dont scratch the surface) you need both to cover the sometimes subtle differences in a few tracks. Of course even then it's still not quite correct because God forbid they still don't use the original version of track... which is missing 2 seconds from the intro. Strange that the Singles Collection has came up as I was out for a walk for my Wife yesterday and she asked what I'd like for Christmas and I informed her that the vinyl version of that set would do nicely. I was told to go away and order it but common sense says no to her blowing $200 plus on sometime that will be played at most a couple of times. A very good option are the two nicely down reissues of their 1960s hits compilations, Through The Past Darkly and Big Hits, High Tide and Green Grass. The latter reissue is the much better UK version in mono with a nice replica cover and the vinyl in an unsettling shade of green. This may still be available from your local emporium at a reasonable price. www.discogs.com/The-Rolling-Stones-Big-Hits-High-Tide-And-Green-Grass/release/13478308Through the Past Darkly reissue from around 2014 comes in the correct octagonal cut sleeve and my only complaint is that it doesn't include one of my all time favourite Stones tracks, We Love You. www.discogs.com/The-Rolling-Stones-Through-The-Past-Darkly-Big-Hits-Vol-2/release/5690774Looking through those compilations is a timely reminder of how good a singles band the Stones were through the 1960s and that's something I feel a lot of younger fans don't appreciate, focusing more on the later albums. At one time I had a full run of their singles up to Jumping Jack Flash but when I was away on my OT they all got moved into my fathers garage, forgotten about until they were rediscovered in the clean up after the big Invercargill flood of 1984. Everything had been under water for days , covered in filth, and like most of the garage contents, dumped.

Some Girls & Exile, are the ones that are spun the most by me. Although my Stones collection has one or two selected albums missing.

"...one of my all time favourite Stones tracks, We Love You." ... Haha Cooks, Danger Will Robinson - you're getting closer to a Beatles fanboy: 'We Love You' sounds like it could easily be a Revolver track!
