I notice an add pops up now and then on the bottom of the forum saying something like ' Computer owners urged to do this today before going on line'. If you click on this it opens up to some blurb promoting a new FREE antivirus program called Scan Guard. The scam is the FREE program will scan/search your computer for virus infections which it will list. BUT you then have to BUY a further program to remove them. Beware. Do a Google search if want more info. No I haven't been suckered into this myself but many have. Cheers.

Chaps - if you are not using one already, install a good basic, auto-updating (important), free antivirus programme - and don't touch anything else unknown. (I have been using AVG Antivirus Free for quite a few yrs. There are others.)

I've been using Trend Micro for the last 5 or 6 years across all phones, tablets, PCs and Laptops in the house and I've never had an issue with virus, malware, ransomeware etc. According to its monthly reports, it's blocked a few over time... Can act a little like a virus itself at times, but I think all the anti-v programs are much the same these days... Pop up blocker too so never seen the one you mention...

I've found that the best cure for stopping half the crap from appearing on my computer is to stop the kids from using it !
