My housemate insisted on selecting some dvd’s to watch. Not sure if this should be under music or movies,
Concerts by Andre Rieu and his orchestra. Was prepared to be bored, but instead was captivated. The performances and audience participation were stunning. Standouts were concerts -
at a theme park in Holland, where not only Straus Waltz’s and marches featured, but also some stunning arias from operas - Hansel and Gretel, Rigolleto, Magic Flute.
at Albert Hall, simply amazing, The Audience were part of the show. Encore after encore, finishing with three of the lady musicians performing some Andrew Sister numbers, then a finale where Andre cheekily said, ok, here is Beethoven’s 5th, the opening of the symphony poured forth, then they segued into a medley of Glen Miller tunes. There was a pipe band also.
London at Christmas. Oh my, enthralling, the usual waltzes, marches, then some stunning renditions of numbers from the Messiah, and carols, including the Holy City. Hardly a dry eye in the house. Children in the audience were captivated. Amazing Grace brought the house down.
It was fun, people laughed and cried, danced, embraced, kissed each other. The members of the orchestra smiled and laughed.
I was entranced. Hmmm!!
