One of Auckland Transport's electric buses currently being trialled in the city. TEG (China-based Times Electric Group) provides the technology. In the background, a couple of Waste Management Ltd's converted electric trucks - using Dutch EMOSS kitsets & expertise.

HYUNDAI Kona Electric SUV: Not inexpensive ($74k?) - maybe more palatable with the govt's proposed EV subsidy factored in. Kona Electric battery pack:

RENAULT Twizy EV - seating for 2 (2nd person behind the driver), rear cargo space, battery hire, 80 kms real-world range, 13kW power, 57Nm torque, 474 kg kerb weight. Makes more sense in European cities - maybe in Akld city too now!

RENAULT Zoe - 65kW, 226Nm, 41kWh battery, up to 300 kms real world range. Very cute French (external) design, but it ooks like only a single Euro-type Mennekes charge port is provided, so charging is resticted to 16A / 230vac (ie. no secondary CHAdeMo 'fast-charger' port).

HYBRID BIKES - NZ's first carbon fibre E-bike. NZ-designed, made in China, German motor, Samsung battery tech, front suspension (rigid fork an option), hydraulic disc brakes, Shimano cycle groupset. Comes in 2 styles - step-through 'cruiser' style & triangle-frame sport-trail riding style. I like the hub-drive motor (better front-back weight distribution), carbon frame (v lightweight for an E-bike), disc brakes (safer stopping for a heavy bike, esp in wet weather) & the overall componentry package. Possibly the best E-bike available here - but not inexpensive at $4,950 - but the frame has a 'lifetime warranty'.

was honda, vw, porsche there with their pure EVs ? An e-Golf was there (looking boring & unimaginative, just like another Golf). As was a VW Golf wagon driven all the way from the Netherlands by a Dutch fellow. However poor no-show by.... Tesla. Also no Honda, Porsche, Nissan NZ.... Lots of e-Scooters, e-Bikes. And a very interesting UBCO 2x2 wheel drive 'utility e-Bike'. NZ company, 5 years old, initially targeted as a farm utility bike, now being trialled for urban utiliy uses such as food delivery, etc. Weighs around 60kg, street-legal with just a car licence - this could be the future of urban light-medium cargo delivery.
