EISA (Expert Imaging & Sound Association) convention in Antwerp, Belgium, sounds boring but, as Michael Fremer reports, there are some upcoming product developments that are of interest to us regular consumers...
SENNHEISER's Sound Bar (3:10), though costly, has impressive sound - " This thing is fantastic! " (Fremer)
PRO-JECT's founder, Heinz Lichtenegger (25:50) outlines in entertaining fashion, new products: (i) CD Box R52 T "an ultimate CD transport" (ii) their very first X1 turntable revised - "a high end, low budget turntable" (iii) a new 12-LP re-issue of the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Karl Boehm from the VPO's original (1970s?) analogue master tapes.
ELAC's Andrew Jones (35:39) explains why they chose analogue (not digital DSP) crossover & amplification inside their 3-way, tri-amped, Navis (ARB-51?) active loudspeakers. - " This system sounded great! " (Fremer)
MoFi ELECTRONICS (46:17) announced a new 'flagship' turntable, the UltraDeck+M, which includes a new (AT-developed?) 'Mastertrack' cartridge, 10" tonearm & other improvements.
ISO ACOUSTICS (59:11) - this is an interesting, well-reasoned presentation on loudspeaker support & damping, specifically relating to the design of Isotek's 'Gaia' loudspeaker support 'isolator' devices. If interested in the science of loudspeaker support, well worth a view. Don't use spikes, he says!
