My bet sonically would be the Project! The AR EB is no slouch I still have my Technics SL-7 which comes out to play once or twice a year. I don't buy into the myth that linear tracking is better because that's how records are cut
I like your Jardis!
The "myth" ?
Assertion, belief, certitude? ;=}) I think we've touched on this topic before, or at least ISTR it being written about. Maybe you can remind me of some articles supporting your understanding of it? I'm sure there were some espousing that POV.
I may have read them back then, but am still so overwhelmed at moving in, PC's not all setup yet let alone hifi, too hard to look up.
Meanwhile ... Cheers!

The SL7 setup was temporary, the SL7 is sitting on a Yamaha AVS-700 AV switcher, on top of the Jadis' cage. The Yamaha only has MM phono so the SL7's Ortofon TMC200 is partnered with Ortofon T5 plug in transformers. Thought it was a Yamaha symbol. Quite the component sized switcher.

Got it back during the heyday of analogue video with two channel sound (pre-dating digital 5.1 sound).
It has a multitude of AV inputs plus an independent record out path.
I used it with DVD, LD, VHS and SKY.

Picking it up on Tuesday I was very tempted by this, was holding my phone when the notification came through and had to think very hard for 5 mins I'm surprised no one bid... I've always loved the look of those arms.

Thanks for the links Michael! Some extended reading there, and links within links, an exploratory tree ... I'm still reading. Wow, the Ortofon TMC200 looks like something special, reading about it! (Haven't looked up the T5s.)

I just bought the 8000 because I love tangential tonearms. I also have a much more restoration needed original 4000, gifted. It had had a drop, the teak plinth is busted & other components loose. That's still a back-burner project, but this one looks much more likely to need less work. I'll get out the microscope to inspect the stylus... fingers crossed that that's OK. Apparently looked after, if dusty. Wish me luck! ;=}) I'm still trying to find my microscope in yet unpacked boxes... a cheap TM buy years ago, similar to this: www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/toys-models/educational-toys/science/listing/4605702773Actually I just found an old pic of that and the camera I used to attempt some photos; the small lens fits over the eyepiece nicely. I was able to get some pics like this, a Stanton 600EE front on, this from 2010. I know now that we want pictures from top down, with side lights illuminating any potential wear facets. I've arranged that for next time. Here's another pic with that same ancient equipment, an Ortofon OM10 from the side, from 2009. I'm annoyed that I missed the end time for this, which looks like a much better one, by minutes; I would have bid more. Just for stylus inspection. www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/antiques-collectables/clocks-scientific-instruments/listing/4581806563The reason I'm interested again is of course to inspect the B&O MMC20CL stylus that came with it. The vendor told me that his Dad had kept up with them, maybe had bought several. But have I ended up with an old worn one or a reasonably unworn one? It certainly looks very dusty. I haven't attempted to clean it yet. I'm confident that I can restore the deck itself as necessary. But the cartridge is essential! Because if the former, a re-tip looks to be really expensive, maybe ~$1000 NZD. At 1000 hrs, or 500, this is a lot per record play! That approximate price from Soundsmith, $599 USD. www.sound-smith.com/services/phono-cartridge-repair-restoration-tip-repair#t3As for recording hours, I have some ideas, for another post.

And don't forget the autoreverse and special microphone!
It was actually a very good deck in its day and recorded a few bootleg concerts in its time.

I've mentioned before here my best special one, but now I'm reminded of some chunkier ones, one I think that had a tuner module that could replace the tape cassette... I must look them out. Here's that one, anyway;- darklantern.proboards.com/post/34284

$305.00 At least I bid it up a bit! I really have enough turntables to deal with now, some broken, but they all take up space. I would have entertained the Lenco; I bought one like that for $40 decades ago, it sat around, I joined Lenco Heaven, but... In a time of poverty I had to sell it with some sadness, I got $3-400 for it, after a few or some years. So it looks like I won't be having an idler drive again after all, apart from the heavy platter Garrard SP25 Mk II, which is cosmetically & more a wreck. The platter might be good for someone though. I'm pretty sure it can fit and replace the later MkIII & maybe after versions light pressed steel ones. I gave away another, MkI or II, to a friend so that he could play his Dads 78s. Laboratory Series, heavy cast platters like the Lenco albeit only 10". Actually I have a couple of bushings for the L75, sent by the maestro at the time himself, François? Still have the padded envelope somewhere, a souvenir indeed. They should go to a deserving home too. Still, I have belt and direct drives, and the Beogram 8000 to deal with as well now. I went to $300, but I'm running out of time so fine, enough is enough! Cheers!

$305 sounds about right.
Wonder if there's any value left in that Shure cartridge?

Trouble in High Street - or at least in Murawai? Check out this TM listing for an English Acoustic 21C stereo valve amplifier. www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/electronics-photography/home-audio/amplifiers-tuners/listing/4623388915?bof=P48MVxWd The English Acoustic 21C is an accomplished rework of the venerable Leak Stereo 20. It was last listed for a little north of $14k and now can be had for a mere (no reserve) $5k. The seller has been listing it since mid 2022. (Don't trouble yourself with the seller's matching Heretic speakers, unless you are fond of a P.A. type of sound.) The UK price is Stg5K so it is a bargain if you like this kind of thing.

The Lenco looked a bit munty...
Never heard of English Acoustic, no urge to,
How do these small dealers stay in business ?
