And they are based in Aus ! Sony SS-M9's are nice, Stereopile has the wrong pic in their review. The photo they have is the SS-M9ED - supertweetered for SACD. The Luxman is nice but do you really want to buy expensive, obsolete stock from an out of business ex-distributor ? Now for some real crack

Looks pretty close. Anyway, there’s a market for this stuff if only for the vintage bling,

Was it any good? Looks quite beefy. Didn’t sound too good on the internet but I guess you wouldn’t bother putting something like that together if it didn’t pass muster. fb.watch/qfQh3mEMuP/?

Bargain!
Ebay has one pair with weak bass, poor output for about $6k, or one pair at $9.4k (plus import duties/gst!). đŸ˜…

Rare and sought after.. Please dont forget the sought after in the ad.. This is probably quite true.. I heard just quietly Michael Wong is building special cabinets for these as I type but he wants it kept a secret so please dont pass this on..as he doesnt want bidding competition come closing time..

The modern and much better equivalent to the Axiom 80 is the SEAS F8 at roughly US$900 each.

CTF-1250 was one of the best cassette decks from Pie-in-your-ear.
Not a patch on good Nak but easy to use.

A beat up old Beocenter with multiple issues against a Beogram 8000 with an MMC20CL cartridge? You must be joking, sir! ;=}) Anyway, I'm very happy with it, it arrived yesterday, and although expecting to do some restoration, it was working when last used. Of course the platter is off and the aluminium surrounds, failed double-sided tape. Those other parts stashed separately. I had great email interchanges on packing sufficiently and correctly, with photos. A heroic packing job, well done. An exciting project for autumn. I took a couple of photos after I'd parked the base unit on the glass table, itself a slight temporary workshop, just for fun. The outré sign was $20, from a poster shop up on K'Rd. New, made to look old. I'll put it in my workshop, just as a joke. I'm well pleased, but the lounge is out of action until I can paint the walls and erect and fill all of the cabinets and shelves, with equipment, LP's and so on. So it will be parked for a while until I can do all that and then look at it. Cheers! ;=}))

Didn't read the description on the Beocentre... $446 is still a fair whack for the 8000

How about these ?

But the Beogram is by far the most stylish of that lot!

Great fun research MW, thanks! The 1st Pioneer looks nice, a good deck for somebody, only up to $194 now, but 169 watchers! I've no desire for it, I have more than enough turntables now. The 2nd Dual, meh, I looked at repairing one for somebody, but a starter deck for someone... despite the hype on the cheap AT 3600 cartridge. The 3rd, Pro-Ject, didn't sell. The 4th, AR EB-101 belt drive turntable, looks quite nice. A Jelco arm? I had an arm like that, sold on. Again, I don't need any new ones! The main daily driver has been a Sansui SR-222 MkV, with a Stanton 600 broadcast cartridge, an 881 awaiting. Next to a Technics SL-6, and a switch box. There'll be room for a separate phono preamp too, since it now has to be some metres away from the hifi amplifier & etc shelves. I just bought the 8000 because I love tangential tonearms. I also have a much more restoration needed original 4000, gifted. It had had a drop, the teak plinth is busted & other components loose. That's still a back-burner project, but this one looks much more likely to need less work. I'll get out the microscope to inspect the stylus... fingers crossed that that's OK. Apparently looked after, if dusty. Wish me luck! ;=}) Ross

But the Beogram is by far the most stylish of that lot! Thanks for that appreciation;- I think so too. Apart from the tangential arm function, even. Although all of the others are good looking in their own way ... ;-})

The AR EB is no slouch
I still have my Technics SL-7 which comes out to play once or twice a year.
I don't buy into the myth that linear tracking is better because that's how records are cut

The AR EB would be my second pick for sound quality and aesthetics.
