Hi all, Anyone care to comment on Tidal quality? and anyone use Tidal on their iphone? Appreciate all comments on sound quality compared to itunes and ease of use on mobile devices. I've gone through the faq on Tidals site but nothing like hearing experiences from users. I'm really only listening to music on the go and streaming on a mobile device doesn't interest me much. Cheers, Alan

welcome to the forum.
a few eyebrows raised here...
Tidal is a streaming service
"on the go" is being mobile
neither of which interest you much so what is the question ?

thanks...i suppose what im asking is: Is tidal much better quality than itunes? Has anyone downloaded music via tidal to use offline on a mobile device - which is handy.

from the files of an it expert i trust...
tidal wins sonically, it's streaming lossless flac at 320kbps vs. itunes compressed 256kbps aac
smaller catalogue on tidal though.
how about spotify premium ? biggest catalogue and 30kbps ogg sound.

Don't like itunes, so no comment on them.
But I've tried Spotify and Tidal. Sound quality is better on Tidal but more expensive.
However, on the go I only use cheap but good phones (too many distractions, noise to warrant anything too hifi, for me anyhow), so the differences disappear. And I'm not about to go walking with my bulky Audeze3 phones!
Alan, what's your mobile gear?

I use iphone 6/Onkyo HF player with Dragonfly Black and UE reference earphones. I'll look into Spotify Premium. What about Tidal MQA? anyone tried that? Imagine the file sizes are huge.

Not familiar with your rig but looks way better than decent.
I don't have an MQA enable device but do use Tidal HiFi which offers the Master versions and MQA enabled tracks. They sound damn fine on the main system but haven't tried them offline, as alluded to above it would be pointless with my level of portable gear.
How do you find the Dragonfly Black? I have a 1.2 and Red, and the Red sounds more real/natural to me.

I've got nothing to compare the DFly black with. All I can say it's so much better than the phones headphone output. I think DFly are making the black and red upgradable to MQA capable.
Can michealW or someone elaborate on 30kbps ogg ?

A vote for Spotify Premium here, absolutely fine for music on the go.
