My telly just died.
What are the current recommendations?
Probably about 55 inch, and between about $1000 and $2000. Recommended models? Samsung and Panasonic preferred. Will be connected to a HD Sky decoder but no external HiFi so needs a reasonable inbuilt speaker.

Be surprised if you can find any modern tv with anything approaching acceptable sound. Recommend you budget for a soundbar to go with it, or look for a package deal of TV and soundbar.

Agree with Cloth Ears. The sound from our Samsung was so bad that I immediately purchased a soundbar/sub. Just a fairly cheap Polk system from Hardly Normal but made a world of difference.

I use an old Cambridge amp + a pr of Linn Index lspkrs. Personally these days I watch almost nil commercial TV, but for movies you'll want decent+ SQ of course.

Personally these days I watch almost nil commercial TV, 90% of my TV time now is spent on You Tube. Currently obsessed with USA politics and wood turning videos with a bit of vintage motorsport thrown in.
