Just happen to be baby-sitting 2 of these right now.... Unfortunately one phono stage is in bits & the other is in California undergoing upgrades.

Less than 1000 Euros? Conjectures DARKO - for the SL-1200MK7. The non-DJ, SL-1500C?

specs say 11kg for the old 1210. 1000 euro/$1000usd would be the guess as the mk7 is aimed at the professional user not persnicky audiophiles

12.5kgs for this 'SL-1210Mk2-A' Heavier than the SP-10MkII (without plinth base).

wiki's 11kg was net, no lid
they also say the new mk7 is only 7.6kg

The above SL-1210 weight taken from Service Manual - also verified by carrying the thing onto a set of scales!

According to Michael Fremer: SL-1500C 'complete' TT - US$1199 with built-in phono preamp & Ortofon 2M Red MM cartridge fitted, auto-lift. SL-1200MK7 'professional DJ TT' - US$1000, includes 78rpm & reverse playback "for hidden satanic message playback ease"

reverse playback haha
i always wondered how people played records backwards to hear the secret messages in pre-computer days.

"for hidden satanic message playback ease"
That's just the cartridge trying to tell you it's not a good idea.......

John DARKO makes a short film about hisTechnics SL-1500C - the new manual, stripped-down, non-DJ, 'audiophile' version of the new TECHNICS TT series. - Ortofon 2M Red cartridge installed. - In-built MM phono stage (switchable) - Auto-lift (switchable) - Arm-base height (VTA) adjustable - Lighter-weight plinth (than the DJ versions) - Euro 999 " It sounds absolutely superb!... I'm super-impressed with the phono stage-cartridge combination here. " He reckons it's better than a Rega Planar 2 with Carbon cartridge & even prefers the Technics combo sometimes to his Roon Nucleus + Bluesound Node 2** streamer, digital front-end.

Michael Fremer (ANALOG PLANET) reviews the TECHNICS SL-1500C - US$1199 with Ortofon 2M Red (& built-in phono stage). " I’m thinking Technics engineers took everything learned in the design and production of the more costly turntables and found (a way to) squeeze most of into the SL-1500C at a far lower cost. That’s how good this ‘table is... With a better cartridge I can only imagine. " (MF used outboard phono stages.)

I learnt a few things: - The traditional Technics SL-1200 helicoid VTA arm-lift base has been replaced by a more economical to manufacture (but still effective), conventional manual lift & locking, index-marked arm-base. - The end-of-play auto arm-lift 'defeat' switch is on the rear of the plinth. - The SL-1500C is manufactured in Malaysia. - I'll be heading straight to check out Chrissie Hynde's latest 2nd solo (Jazz) album "Valve Bone Woe". One of my fav 'rock femmes' PS. I rather like the old SL-1200's clever pop-up 'stylus illuminator' light - handy if, like me, you like a dimly lit listening room

The Absolute Sound (Drew Kalbach) reviews the SL-1500C.: " That's the real strength of the SL-1500C: precise timing and dynamics... the 1500C in particular just felt alive and expressive. Everything was sharp, in focus, tight, energetic. The soundstage was wide and impressive, but the dynamics really won the day. Everything was lively, fleshed out, and vigorous. " " This is an awesome turntable... " (Auditioned with outboard, separate phono preamp.) At US$1199 (NZ$1999) with Ortofon 2M Red (US$100) & in-built phono stage (bypass-able) included, it seems like reasonable value to me - for access to Technics' new 'coreless' DD motor technology with a solid (10kg) SL-1200-derived plinth design.

"lively, fleshed out, and vigorous. " that sums up the DD experience

As many as the Perreaux, Theophany that they used to stock ?
My local HN hasn't had serious hi-fi for many years.
