Susumu Sakuma, Japanese valve amp-builder, has died a few days ago, aged 76.
You could say that he was a bit eccentric, building only mono amplifiers mostly using transformer-coupled triode valves.
He ran his small 'Concorde' restaurant located 2 hours from Tokyo, where he cooked for guests (Euro-Italian food I believe) & played mono-recorded albums on a Garrard 401, Denon mono cartridge & through vintage loudspeakers, eg Altec, Lowther.
He was doing his HiFi Cafe thing before it became hipster.
His webpage & his group of enthusiast-followers, is called Direct Heating.
Even in Japan, he was considered esoteric & had featured on Japanese TV...
