Strange short tonearm, effective length 8.78 inches with what looks like no offset angle.
April 2019 release?

extreme wishful thinking. technics, yamaha, luxman et al still have people with the expertise to revive the brands' stereo fortunes but the nak ship has long sailed. the latest ranges of home and car audio are rubbish.

The NS-5000's haven't been in Wellington for a while now. There's a pair @ Listening Post Christchurch, running for the most part on McIntosh kit.
The question is, when will Deano buy a GT5000 for home?

Do elaborate on the tonearm offset angle when you get more info.
I see the headshell is slotted, so does provide for some user adjustable off set.

Straight, zero angular offset tonearm: You'll note that the tonearm has no Anti-skate mechanism. ie. zero angular offset on the cartridge => zero inward Skating forces. A few arm designers now recognise the tracking instability the skating/anti-skating introduces - which is audible. IMHO, this is one of the big audible bonuses of linear trackers (arguably moreso than 'zero tracking error' of linear trackers). See the Rigid Float tonearm by Viv Lab, a Japanese design. PS. You can try zero-offset/zero anti-skating on your own tonearm - but check out the Viv Lab fitting instructions.

There are no reviews of this one yet, just curious. Also potentially this will lead to Yamaha developing a mid-range model following the Technics model (1200G->1200GR) so something around the 1500-2000 Euros price point would be really interesting. Let's see, Yamaha is such a great brand.
