Big news this month (just last week) was the announcement of Nikon's first full-frame mirrorless camera.
In fact 2 of them - Nikon Z7 & Nikon Z6 - together with a new range of Z-mount Nikon lenses being released - only 3 lenses will be initially are available.
Z7 - a pro-grade model with 45.7 megapixels sensor, $US$4k with 24-70mm f/4 lens.
Z6 - a lower level 24.5 megapixels sensor model, US$2.6k with 24-70mm f/4 lens.
Of particular interest is that Nikon are releasing also a FTZ lens mount adapter to enable full compatibility (auto-focus/exposure) with its existing extensive range of (90?) lenses.
This will undoubtedly be a (potentially) significant advantage over the only other (highly) successful FF mirrorless camera, the Sony A7 (& A9) - which currently has only half a dozen (costly) Sony lenses, of which only 2 are primes.
" They’re basically a tit-for-tat response to Sony’s A7III and A7RIII... "
" Why mirrorless? It allows Nikon to built a more modern, smaller, quieter camera... "
