Is audio getting 'young' again? " Walking around Rocky Mountain Audio Fest you may have noticed that a lot of manufacturers, journalists, and show goers are mostly over 50. It wasn’t always this way, back in the 80s high-end audio was populated by thirty and forty year olds. So we’re happy to see the next wave of entrepreneurs like the ones represented here on this panel demonstrate audio is getting young again. " This seminar from RMAF 2018, moderated by Steve Guttenberg (The Audiophiliac) with EJ Sarmento (Wyred 4 Sound), Cynthia Bishop (audiophile), Sean Casey (Zu Audio), EveAnna Manley (Manley Labs), all under 40 years old, talking about: - How they personally got into audio - Millennial 'whoopers' - Direct selling, selling online - Personal audio (headphones) & compact/portable audio, better suits younger listeners with limited funds, space, privacy, etc - Manufacturing in USA - Manufacturing in-house - Music that younger listeners want to hear - Audiophile mentoring - Affordably-priced products - Trade-in discounts - Upgrade price plans - Factory production efficiency - Steve's hifi store stories - Exposing High End audio to younger listeners

To begin with - play music that younger people actually enjoy. I'm not yet in my 40's and it drives me nuts to hear HiFi shows where they play 'a wonderful MQA version of Van Morrison'... or Dianna blimming Krall, Jeffereson Airplane... well anything 70's for that matter! Playing rock / punk / grunge / hip hop... you know, music that's not designed to sound "HiFi", but instead designed to interest the target market - that's the place to start. Turntables with WiFi and bluetooth - it'll get people on this forum recoiling in horror, but not if you're under 40... to them it just 'makes sense'.
Cable lifters? Power filtration? Snobbish reactions to horn loaded tweeters / ribbons / metal driver = massive turnoffs for everyone from GenX to Millenials.
It will take an attitudinal shift for the process to begin, but it can happen.

Yup - I hope that when you go to shows now, they'll offer streaming, so that you anyone can play what they like.
