I believe these are useful for checking your stylus wear. The listing said reduced from 29.99 to 9.99, so I have just ordered one.

A conical stylus is around 0.036mm contact diameter x 45 should magnify it to around 1.6mm, but with good LED lighting it may be useful to check general cleanliness at least. A stylus shank might be say 0.13mm diam, which would be magnified to ~6mm.

Oh well, at least will be of use in my other hobby of stamp collecting. Will also be able to read the fine print on the back of CDs,, and read the matrix marks in the run out grooves!

I've been meaning to grab one of those USB microscopes - but that's yet another tangent I don't need to lose myself on Look forward to hearing about the magnifier, I think the lighting is a big plus.

I was gifted one of these 'LED Loupes'. This one's a 10x magnif only, but the quality of optics & the excellent LED ring lighting, make it useful enough to examine say a stylus for general cleanliness. Very clear, but not quite high magnif enough to determine stylus wear - although younger eyes will be better than mine. This one is called a 'LED Scale Loupe', which means it has a (removable) glass scale at the bottom which you can use to measure lengths & angles (last pic). If you remove this, you can also get extra close to say a cartridge. There are 4 x L936F button batteries inside the top barrel.

sub - did you get that Jeweller's Loupe? And how useful is its 45x magnification & clarity?

sub - did you get that Jeweller's Loupe? And how useful is its 45x magnification & clarity? Yes, is ok for checking how clean the stylus is, but doesn’t bring the shape of the diamond into relief. Useful for reading fine print. The led light is very handy.

For general cleanliness inspection I use this loupe. I think it was only about $10. The LED light really makes a huge difference.

For cleanliness of the stylus, the supposed "45x" one is fine. The Belomo doesn't offer much more even if it magnifies more than the "45x".
Its also more difficult to focus with the Belomo (smaller lens, higher magnification, shorter focusing distance).
The Belomo is a quality metal loupe, feels good in the hand but at this magnification I'd probably actually just stick with any generic.
