i spent many years lusting after the hifi wares that this store once carried.

back in import restricted days they managed to get all manner of desirable goodies.

friendly finance terms meant being able to own the stuff seen in the hi-fi mags of the day.

i also met some of the high rollers in the nz audio business, distributors, designers.

but come the 1990s and their sheen had gone with many new importers carrying lines the good old tv and sound could only dream of.

it will be interesting to what the new owner does, apparently he has a car stereo store in hastings or somewhere up there.

I listened to home theatre for the first time in MTV&S. Thought “WOW”.

Ended up with a Yamaha pro-logic receiver and Energy speakers. Still got them all somewhere. The receiver was beautifully made compared to today.

Come to think of it, I bought my first hi-fi there years before, a Sanyo component system, second-hand. Later added a Yamaha multi-CD player.
