Must admit I've never heard of them or Tom Russell before. You've never heard of Spooky Tooth Tom Russell I can understand though. To be fair I've scant knowledge of the majority of the music you're playing. So many records, so little time. Spooky Tooth really only had two good albums in them before they released the rather disastrous Ceremony that pretty much killed them off. Various members of the original line up went onto success with Foreigner, Humble Pie, Mott the Hoople and The Only Ones. Gary Wright originally on keyboards and vocals had a huge solo hit with Dream Weaver in the 70s. Spooky 2 is one of those time warp records for me, where did 1969 disappear to.

Catchy rhythms this arvo. A cracker album from 2008 by Zimbabwean Chiwoniso Maraire (who tragically died in 2013 aged 37, RIP).
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

This came with a bulk lot of CDs purchased a while back. The synopsis in Roon is a review which largely pans the album suggesting her voice is not suitable for jazz music so I've not bothered listening to it until tonight. I get why they may think that but I'm liking it.

I was listening to my vinyl version of Acadie just the other night ...
Still a great bass rumble, still water, & etc.

Lisa has a unique, somewhat quirky voice that I adore.
Her best album (also with the Peter Nordahl Trio) is Back To Earth, only just bettering when did you leave heaven, IMHO. It would make a great vinyl release but sadly only her last three albums have made it to the black stuff.

If I had to pick one it'd be For The Beauty of Wynona. Foolishly I passed by copies of that for years just based on the slightly disturbing cover. I do have all three on lp and they'd be among the last to go.

That's the one I have, on CD, somewhere ... Despite looking twice across several shelves and drawers, I can't find it! Add that to 3 Weather Report LPs I can't find either.
Weirdly, the first time I came across the song Nature Boy was late at night at home on K'Rd, listening to a local LPFM station KFM. I had to ring the station and ask who it was ... Petra Magoni and Ferruccio Spinettii. Despite that so many artists have covered the song, I'd never heard it before.
Anyway, that led me in to exploring more of them.
A little slower than Lisa's version, although it picks up a bit at about 1:48

Cowboy Junkies. The Nomad Series (Demons) vol 2. The Nomad Series was a multi disc release from the CJ on both cd and lp. I believe all the records could be purchased individually along with a very limited box format which included two extra discs and a book. Vol 2 is all covers of songs written by their friend Vic Chesnutt and the band do a nice job, smoothing out some of the rougher edges without loosing the basics of each song. I've long rated Chesnutt as a lyric writer.
