Easy like a Sunday morning... [/url Thanks again, Cliff. Funny to think that when these guys were a buzz band, I wrote them off as just that and never bothered with them. This album almost comes off as a tribute to the early pioneers of synth driven music... Tis great.

Another picked up dirt cheap from Cliff. I haven't heard an Andy Stott release I didn't like yet and this is no exception. Awesome beats. [/url]

I dug this out (sl tatty Oz copy) after reading recently about the recording sessions. And seeing the Don Cheadle movie. I'm not a Jazz fiend, but I like this a lot more now, although Miles is not fully front & centre in this project. Still mostly quite fresh after 30 yrs. I must revisit Kind of Blue, Rebirth of the Cool...

Walk to work this am Roxy Music. Roxy Music. Love their first two albums but interest trailed of after Eno left. Still holding out for the Steven Wilson remixed/remastered deluxe editions which apparently were completed some time ago.

Buddy Miller- Your Love and Other Lies. I need an occasional reminder of just how good Mr Miller is. Emmylou Harris and Robert Plant know.
Wish there was a good release of the Spyboy tour on Dvd or BR, that'd make a nice box set.

Well worth it. Check out the Prestige Quintet sessions, as these are my current favourites.

Grand National - Kicking The National HabitA fun brit album from a few years back now, with versions like the Glimmers remix of Playing In The Distance (in which vocals, apparently deliberately, sound like one Gordon Sumner...) Anyway, for a long time a friend and I were trying to identify the bassline / guitar work in Peanut Dreams, without any success: I note that because of course comments in Youtube posts are now of some forensic value (!), and it seems the entire line was lifted from a 60s/70s "classical baroque rock" group known for a period as The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble, and latterly as The New York Rock Ensemble after the departure of a founding member. Anyway, I have spent the afternoon listening to the album (Roll Over, 1971) from which this track was taken... You may now return to your usual programming...

Thanks gd, Sundog is a good listen - much more stripped back, but the familial sounds are front and centre.
Turning the clock back this afternoon with some Slowdive (Souvlaki), getting ready for their first album in 22 years. Here are tracks 2 and 4 from that, still sounding just as good:
Looking forward to this one....

Nice to get back from a few days away and find some new arrivals. Over the weekend been listening to the Fresh Cream box set, 3x double albums, mono/stereo etc. I haven't checked but I think the track listing will be similar to the 3 cds on the digital deluxe that came out at the start of the year. Happy with what I've listened to so far, pressings good but a bit dusty and need a run through the cleaner once I get some more replacement inners. Taste, On the Boards. I assume that this is the same mastering as used on the Taste cd box set from a year or two back but whoever did the vinyl got it right, nicely crankable although some slightly odd placement of instruments in the stereo field at times. Despite the sticker on the cover saying this is the first 180gm reissue, MOV did release this title a few years back in the same fashion but this Universal release wins on one point, with a nicely textured cover and better colour tones. I should do a comparison between the two at some stage but glad to have them as I dont think I've ever seem a good condition original anywhere.

woke up early this morning, so under headphones: a long time since I played 13th Floor Elevators. Yep, they were REAL gone...I don't have any of Roky's solo stuff. I recall a recent one got accolades. I must look it out. then on the small system: both oldies, but goodies. Then I tried to find my Slowdive cds - prompted by 40Hz, as above - unsuccessful, but I did locate: still entrancing. And 40Hz - Slowdives next is on my 'wanted' list. thanks.
