A Walk Across the Rooftops is one of my favorite go to albums. High was released for the first time on vinyl mid last year. Have finally got around to buying a copy.

I am a non-recovering audioholic, and Ivor is my higher power.

The mighty Sir Richard Bishop - Oneiric Formulary Another fine performance from this maestro, even if he doesn't use his guitar as much as he should!

Finally got myself a copy of Phoebe Bridgers' Punisher, after thrashing it on Tidal for ages. It was instantly likeable but after repeat plays it has just grown and grown on me.

Suzanne Vega - EVENING OF NEW YORK SONGS AND STORIES [LIVE] A 2019 live performance, recorded in what sounds like a small intimate place, covering most of her best known songs. Well recorded, atmospheric album. Definite recommendation if you are at all interested in her music.

I was quite pleased to find this relic in the bins at RG (45rpm, 12" single). Also, one for the fanboys - I stumbled across this recently... quite poignant, I thought.
And I just noticed the other day, this Wim Wenders movie (and soundtrack) is coming up to thirty years old in 2021.... π³

Gawd, we're getting old! One of my ALL time favourites is the Wim Wender's movie soundtrack by Ry Cooder - Paris, Texas

We used to listen to Paris Texas all the time. Ry Cooder's spacey slide guitar & especially the " I knew these people.... " dialogue scene / track with Natassja Kinski. We used to listen over & over to Travis' clearing his throat, haha

His slide guitar, the atmosphere...
I could listen to this album on repeat for years!

The Blue Nile..... Other Scottish 'arty/jazzy/sophisticated pop' bands of the New Wave 80s anyone?.... Deacon Blue? Aztec Camera? For some reason, this remains one of my all-time favourite albums (from '83)...

Jesus And The Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil Bands I grew up on and adore. I think I prefer Darklands to Psychocandy as their best

Other Scottish bands from around that era...

I've been comparing the 3 renditions that I have - Menuhin, Accardo, Kyung Wha Chung - no question, the latter is so good (when she was only 17 years old). And nice on Decca. Look out for an English copy if you like this sort of thing, there's a lot out there. " The second movement is perhaps the most rewarding piece of music that has ever been written for the violin. NZ vs imports

The imports look like they have better covers, and that Meola has much better groove room!
Sound quality?

As a result of the "10 random items from your collection" thread I fired up the 12 inch of 3 Strange Days by School of Fish at neighbour annoying volume ...
Found myself dancing (oh alright, my impression of dancing) around the music room ... OMG .. how did I miss this at the time and why wasn't it a giant hit?

Much better printing on the imports.
They are on the left
The UK Flight of the Condor sounds amazing with much more life and richness than the NZ but the pressing is very noisy. Snap, crackle and pop in abundance.
I wasn't looking carefully when I picked up the Al Di Meola - it's a Hong Kong release ! But it carries same catalogue number and matrix info as a Japanese CBS/Sony. And has that nice thick Japanese style sleeve.
Sonically night and day, the NZ is typically crappy NZ CBS, the HK is open and dynamic, not sweet but immediate and engaging.

Thanks for noting which were which, left or right! I was going to ask;-
I thought I might have an LP of Splendido Hotel, yet to find. I do have a perhaps dubious CD remastered flac version, a dual CD with Electric Rendezvous. Listening to selected tracks tonight, to remind myself. I prefer the more gentle acoustic tracks, I think. ;-)

On my screen it looks the other way around. The ones on the right, brighter more colourful. Hard to say about the sharpness of the images though.

Of what else of Al Di Meola to hand, just this!
I prefer this Beatles tribute album, All Your Life, which I have flacs of.
That seems to have have better sound, and individual track links in the description, vs say this with the original cover image.
Might have an LP, or not.
But worth playing through from the top link, I think! ;=})
