Another night, another town so still music via the Fiio X5 which is really no handicap to enjoyment. Jason Molina(Songs Ohia), The Lioness Steve Young, Switchblades of Love, a long time pleasure. www.allmusic.com/album/switchblades-of-love-mw0000110483A shout-out to for the Grado GR8 in ear monitors. I'm not a great fan of iem phones but these embody the strengths that made the brand a favourite for years. Unfortunately inducing some stirings of regret for selling my RS1 set.

RH & the Egyptians fanboy here, always enjoy this fav album from 1986: especially: psychy mood, melody and harmonies: always gets me. "...Save your illusions, For someone else, Save your illusions, For yourself..."
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

Steely Dan, Showbiz Kids the Steely Dan Story.
Not a major Dan fan and generally Can't Buy a Thrill and Pretzel Logic scratch that particular itch. However couldn't resist picking this one up to fill in a few gaps.

Love the Dan !
Original albums are where the magic is.
For such pernickety, perfectionists they only released one good sounding compilation, the 1978 Greatest Hits double album.

Perfect night time listening Tindersticks, No Treasure But Hope (cd)

And on to Tindersticks, Tindersticks II. A random purchase several years ago and my introduction to the band this has remained a firm favorite and a regular listen. Tiny Tears- the track that is more than any responsible for it's ranking in my collection. One play is never enough.
You've been lying in bed for a week now Wondering how long it'll take You haven't spoken or looked at her in all that time It's the easiest line you could break She's been going about her business as usual Always with that melancholy smile But you were too busy looking into your affairs To see those tiny tears in her eyes Tiny tears make up an ocean Tiny tears make up a sea Let them pour out, pour out all over Don't let them pour all over me How can you hurt someone so much your supposed to care for Someone you said you'd always be there for But when that water breaks you know you're gonna cry, cry When those tears start rolling you'll be back Tiny tears You've been thinking about the time, you've been dreading it But now it seems that moment has arrived She's at the edge of the bed, she gets in But it's hard to turn the opposite way tonight Tiny tears

I need to get me some of those records!

I need to get me some of those records! Well worth any effort. The first two are probably the most immediate, the others may take a few plays for appreciation. MOV have done nice reissues of Tindersticks II, Curtains and Simple Pleasures. The first album is quite easily found on a Plain reissue(whatever you may think of that label). Post the first four records I've stuck with the cd releases. Some of those have been reissued with a cd of bonus tracks. If you really want a deeper dive there's the Clare Denis film scores 1995-2009. The vinyl version is nicely done by Constellation Records.

No Treasure seems to available most places but unfortunately Flying Out doesn't have any others. Might have to stoop to Real Groovy...

I just picked up See My Girls 12" ep from Import Cds for a reasonable price. Unfortunately Amazon UK was the best bet once upon a time.

A rare visit to the music room and some lps. Tindersticks, Curtains MOV double lp reissue.
Judy Dyble, Talking to Strangers. 2009 record from original Fairport Convention female vocalist. Limited, autographed copy from Tonefloat. Not really my cuppa, but ok in occasional doses. Plenty of help from famous friends like Robert Fripp(king crimson) Simon Nicol(Fairport) and Tim Bowness(No Man).

Easier if you just sold me your copies God loves a tryer 😄 Another seldom played item Mellow Candle, Swaddling Songs plus.... Nice double lp plus singles reissue of this rare and expensive release. As well as the original lp there's a 2nd vinyl consisting of demos and early works plus two 45s and a full size booklet detailing the short lived bands history. Rise Above Records 2011.

two biggies from JB's weekend sale the tom petty is a mixed bag; it's good to see the album finally re-issued, all analogue this time but the sonics of this eu remaster are a mixed bag. overall it's smoother, with a more balanced presentation but it lacks a bit of punch and the immediacy of my eu original. sides 2-6 sound better than side 1. excellent Netherlands pressing, flat sides with no funny noises. this 3 disc set is expensive but cheaper than an original pressing. bob is in top form, great songs esp. the 17min finale. excellent sound quality. average pressing quality on my yellow copy.

Easier if you just sold me your copies God loves a tryer 😄 . Funny. I've often been told I'm very trying I figure if I say it often enough it will eventually become true. Or I'll piss you off so much you will instead donate all your records to the Salvation Army, and then I'll buy them from them for $1 a piece...I wish. Via Tidal, Curtains - Tindersticks.

Dust on the Nettles, a journey through the british underground folk scene 1967-72. Three cd set with booklet in clamshell case. An informative stroll through the great(Fairport, pentangle, incredible string band)lesser lights(trader horne, anne briggs, fresh maggots) to the obscure. 63 tracks in all.

Jeff Beck Group, Truth. Audio Fidelity hybrid sacd (sacd layer)
Purchased my first copy of Truth in 1970, long gone, but still have sacd, cdx2 and vinylx3. Sometimes you just can't stop at one.😏 As per Mr Beck's instruction this must be played loud.

Didn't know there was an Arcadie special edition... One of my fav DL solo albums. You might want to sample the extras if possible before chasing a copy Michael. Nothing life changing but it's a nice package. I think on balance I lean more towards The Beauty of Wynona as my fav Lanois release. Bypassed it for years just looking at rather unsettling cover but I've tuned into the slightly gritter sound on it over Arcadie.

Just looking... Not a big fan of remasters and I prefer the original cover.

Just looking... Not a big fan of remasters and I prefer the original cover. I do have a 1989 Aus lp with that cover. Last up today Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin. Their debut lp which is another I purchased on release and sits just behind LZIII on my personal ranking. Dragged out the Classic Records 200gm all analogue reissue, really good, explosive, dynamic and very crankable.

LED ZEP II is probably my number one ranking. INTO THE WILD - Eddie Vedder, MOV release
