Haha yes, if you'd told 20 year old me I'd be buying Duke Ellington records in 30 years time I'd have choked on my Joseph Kutz and told you to eff off. Touche. Yahaha... if I'm around in 20years time, and if I'm listening to 'Rap' ....I'll be saying 'eff me'

Note to self, fire up system and dig out my one rap record for Foveauxs visit. 😈😱 Phew, dodged a bullet there... To be fair, I turned up at Cook's place early - he was prone in his warm conservatory under 'phones. It was just a short, passing visit to return his fascinating book "Judas' (Dylan's '66 tour) . And fortuitously, given his planned ambush with (C)Rap, the short journey to his mancave was thwarted by a cold, gale-force driven, horizonal rainstorm. No result mate!

But what is cooks only Rap LP ? It's a long story involving broken promises, long hassles to get refunds, records turning up 12 months after cancelled order with freebies. Never look a gift horse etc Maybe not a hard core rap album though, nothing like the cd collection belonging to my son that's stored in the garage. Also have Twelve Reasons To Die "The Brown Tape, a different look at the material

I only have one of his on vinyl. But its the BEST one! 2004 A Grand Don't Come For Free A story told through songs of 1000 pounds, lost, girlfriend and general life. Great record as well Citroen I'm surprised you found it in vinyl: as far as I remember back in the dark days of 2000s they weren't done in vinyl. 2004 vinyl was pressed, but mine's a 2018 reissue.

Nice, not the first thing I've sold and regretted. Won't be the last either I'm sure...

I was somehow never hooked by Eminem, nor the other earlier white rappers, The Beasties. But having a teenager during the 90s, Hip Hop was the household soundtrack for quite a few years Possibly the earliest popularisation of 'rap' might be in Blondie's fabulous 'Rapture' in '81. Then there was the equally catchy Run DMC cover of 'Walk This Way' ('83). I wasn't informed enough to empathise with NWA in the late 80s, so it wasn't until Jurassic 5's groovy hip hop caught my ear that I bought my 1st hip-hop album, De La Soul's 'jazzy hip hop', '3 Feet High and Rising' in the late 80s-early 90s.

Apologies if it's been posted before, but J-5s slow-groove is real nice.

Been listening to plenty of John Cale lately, re-discovered CDs being ripped, led me to this: from 'Songs for Drella' (Reed/Cale), an excellent snapshot of the Warhol vortex.

Songs for Drella is a long time favourite, I have really enjoyed this live performance and look for the subtle interactions between Reed and Cale.

Haven’t listened to this for years. I recall a very intimate experience with headphones on some songs. Is this available on vinyl?

A little single malt(courtesy of lovely wife)and some big round black records this afternoon. Laura Nyro and Labelle, Gonna Take a Miracle. This one x 4za and only taken about twenty years for first listen. Good stuff.
Terry Allen, Pedal Steel. Paradise of bachelors reissue. Nice pressing. The label have done Allen well with their reissue series.
