I've been making my way through these. I find listening in car is a good way to get acquainted with some cds. It took me quite a long time (months) to like Toto IV and I've just been trying 'Turn Back' and it's not as bad as this list below makes out which is good. ultimateclassicrock.com/toto-albums-ranked/

I became aware of Monty Alexander only through his collaborations with fellow Jamaican, Ernie Ranglin (guitarist). I saw Ranglin when he came to Auckland for WOMAD in around 2000?

meanwhile, been spinning this, best version of one of the best live rock albums It's a real fine album michael. I also have this as the Practical Hifi 'supercut' version. Agree, the Supercut versions are exceptional quality. "Nimbus Supercut LPs were released as a mail order only promotion to Practical Hi-Fi or Hi-Fi Today magazine readers during the early 1980s and were available in limited quantities of around 1000 pressings per title. All releases were mastered from the the original master tapes, through an all valve mastering process, using no limiting, to result in a high quality pressing which was as close as possible in sound to the original recording. Nimbus also had ICI produce an extremely pure vinyl for these cuts. All titles have a sticker on the main sleeve and 'Nimbus England' stamped in the dead wax."I was in London in the early 80's and through reading Practical HiFi, I bought these Supercut titles: Joan Armatrading, Barbirolli Conducts English String Music, Weather Report: Mysterious Traveller (influential album), Joni Mitchell: The Hissing of Summer Lawns, Rickie Lee Jones, and The Guitar Artistry Of Charlie Byrd. They are all stored away in sealed boxes (ahem...random and non-alphabetical), to be 're-discovered' when I sort them after moving home.
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

Jason Molina, Eight Gates I'm really enjoying this one. Only wish it was longer and the songs more developed. Bonnie "Prince" Billy / Three Queens In Mourning - Hello Sorrow Hello Joy Not really getting into this one at the moment.

i was poor when those titles first came out and figured since i already had nz copies of most of them, i would just buy titles i didn't have.
by then practical hi-fi became hi-fi today and were selling off their remaining stocks from which i picked up the joni mitchell, beecham/delius and boult/williams
the jackson browne came from a dubious tm seller.

It's been a longgg..... while since I heard Ryuichi Sakamoto. He disappeared for a period as he went through a personal health struggle but he has returned. He wrote the music for a few films and he continues his journey into experimental. During covid he shared a fantastic improvisation performance that I highly recommend. In my view one of the most important living artists.

Finally in from CD Japan Blind Faith self titled release. Japanese paper sleeve edition platinum SHM 2013 DSD transfer from original master. Bit of a fan of these editions which come in a nice little box with a replica of the original Japanese cover and obi etc. In this case there's also a replica of the alternative American cover as well.

Bonnie "Prince" Billy / Three Queens In Mourning -Â Hello Sorrow Hello Joy Not really getting into this one at the moment. Played Eight Gates through several times and while I'm enjoying it I don't feel the songs are near the highest standards Molina has reached. Still a much better posthumous release than the previous early radio gig. Good to see you persevering with Mr Oldham. I gave up a couple of years ago, just too many releases with variable quality.

My error;- I suppose it was a little risque. Well, let's just vanish the girl then;- the background is the same. They must have algorithms searching for bare flesh tones with breasts areolae nipples, likely pattern matching. Oh well! We live and learn. ;=})

Was it the NZ version of the Blind Faith album that had a different cover ?

Does anyone else think that it seems slightly ridiculous to object to that album cover when in this day and age in a few clicks on a keyboard you can access a huge amount of pornographic material ? (so im told...)
