Ok, I’ll join in - just been listening to this - One of my op shop scores, cleaned on my US RC and plays fine, despite in bright sun being able to see lots of faint swirls on each side. From 1973. There too many clues!

Thats the Doobie Brothers, cant remember the name of the album though.
I dont know if anybody else does this but I have themed listening sessions: Last couple of sessions have been Liverpool bands: I started with the Icicle works then on to the Pale Fountains and Teardrop Explodes (UK pressing of Kilimanjaro). Today started off with The Teardrop Explodes Wilder (one of my favourites from the day), I have both the UK and NZ pressings, then onto Julian Copes Fried (excellent)then onto HMS Fable by Shack, then the Magical world of the Strands, and finally finished up with the La's. Could still easily do another couple of Liverpool days with Wah, Echo and the Bunnymen, The lightning Seeds, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Yazoo etc. No Beatles as I find them virtually unlistenable these days.
Anybody else have themed listening sessions ?

WILT? This one should be a lot easier. This album followed an extra old one, and was figuratively an octave. Performed by a metalworker.

Good Choice, I have a few in that series though not that particular one. Started me off in a great vein of record hunting: Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Yma sumac etc Great stuff.

it's a great collection of cool and sometimes strange music. a bit like the retro cocktail hour on rnz www.retrococktail.org/listen.htmlthat particular one is a sampler in a faux leopard skin covered digipak which won a grammy award for the packaging.

Jason Isbell. Reunions. This is fantastic. Leading candidate for album of the year. IMHO. Stand out track "Overseas." Great guitar work and sound.

Hi Cortez, How does it compare with his earlier ones ? I really liked southeastern. Hi. This is a more uptempo full band production. Leaning more to rock than country. Excellent production. Plenty of interesting things happening in the mix. A great headphone listen. Bass lines easy to follow. Jason and band a very tight unit. Every song a story. Same themes as he usually covers. Reviews seem to rate it as his best yet. The only downside is that Amanda Shires takes a low profile. However there is a youtube online concert for the album release. Acoustic covers of the songs. Lots of Amanda and fiddle. However her wardrobe choice is a little bewildering. Jason Isbell live from the Nashville Bowl. After 4 days on high rotation I still rate it highly. Should be good on vinyl. Enjoy.

I really like Southeastern.
Listening to the Tidal stream a couple of times now and getting my head around the lyrics. Yes, this is a good album but not another Southeastern. Some tracks rock, some emote and some are just country.

The only reason im a bit iffy on it is that although I really liked southeastern I wasnt fussed on the one after it, nor the Nashville Sound (which despite repeated efforts just never gelled with me).

Rodney Crowell, Sex and Gasolene while I chase the dust and spiders from my unused music room. Visitor expected this pm so an effort is made. Visitor was very kindly hosted, as usual. merci beaucoup Cooks! It's always an education to visit his 'Aladdins Cave' music room. And, my first listen to his refined system incl. Hana ML, Yammy stereo amp, and the superb Sonus Fabers. Agree that his 'switch' of speakers playing across the room, rather than down the room, gives better balance and focus. esp. musically, but also layout-wise: nice p.s. good effort too: absolutely no sign of dust and spiders
