The Cure – Songs Of A Lost World Another "bioplastic" vinyl release. Is this the new marketing fad? Biovinyl akin to the 180 gm vinyl marketing hype? Or a genuine good thing? BTW, the music is excellent, a long awaited release and well worth it. Sound quality is a bit disappointing, could do with more clarity.

Grandaddy – The Sophtware Slump ..... On A Wooden Piano Acoustic piano version of their 2000 The Sophtware Slump LP I prefer this stripped down version, with just vocals and piano. Brilliant!

Aussie/NZ band The Necks latest, BLEED lp "Minimalism, that then expands and contracts, developing into a myriad of forward moving pulsating themes." couldn't have said it better myself!

Flashback: 'Lucky Jim - The Gun Club' rediscovered tonight.
I had their album 'The Las Vegas Story' - but it's long gone. However, IMO Lucky Jim showcases that Jeffrey Lee Pierce (RIP) was pretty talented:
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

Some of the best sounding piano recorded that I have heard from my system! And from a pianist that I have long enjoyed. His Beethoven Op 111, 1977 is what first brought him to my attention, and if only they would do an Original Source Series of that!

I remember or recall being impressed by the SQ of Pollini's Chopin Preludes. I can't remember whether it was tape or cd. Also I did have a tape of Pollini in op.106. The Penguins Girlfriends Guide lists this live Cherkassky 1968 recording which makes him 59 in fact - not the youngster pictured.
