some time in the listening chair last evening : I
then:First time on the ESL system...whoda thought this local pressing could sound so good? Dug out my copy of Weird Scenes, a UK pressing which would have been purchased mid 70s in the UK. Brings back some happy memories playing this, eking out an existence in a little bedsit, girlfriend(now wife) asking why I always had to play such sad music. Had nothing, needed nothing, best of times in many ways. My copy hadn't seen a TT for many years and at first very short play full of crackles and surface noise. So it was out with my usual standby fix for old vinyl, a spray with Basics cleaner, rinse under the shower and clean with a paper towel. 1000% improvement, played better that a lot of the new vinyl I receive. I even treated it to new inners when refiling.

Then it's the vaccum system.

i reckon you hit the nail on the head there Johnny. I'm in my 50's and my knees are giving way, I'm going bald, my hearing apparently isn't as good as it used to be as I can't tell a 128 mp3 from a wav file. I think I might just go and kill myself now! Oh, but wait, not quite yet as I must load up my funeral songs before then though...and then its sayonara time!

No Man, Schoolyard Ghost 2x cd version. Must like this as I have a few versions including the earlier cd/dvd-a plus the first vinyl which was a double album with bonus 45 single and the more recent 2xlp reissue. There's quite a lot of difference between the bonus material on the various releases so I haven't quite lost it yet. 1185600.mijnwinkel.nl/steven-wilson/p-1a/LPTF048L.html

Prolific doesn't quite cover it for that guy does it. I can't help but think that if the guy bothered to draw breath and coalesce his better compositions down into 1 killer album he might make more of an impact ?

True , but then 2 crates of lps and a shelf and a half of cds would vanish from my collection. I do prefer No Man to much of the Porcupine Tree catalog and his solo work. I'll concede that Tim Bowness's vocals wont be to all tastes though.

New dual layer release from MoFi. Fingers crossed for their vinyl release of Richard Thompson's Rumor and Sigh (double lp@45rpm). I scored a very good pre order price on that on Amazon Japan late last year but the release date has been pushed back at least two times. Now scheduled for 21st this month. I have quite a few of the MoFi double 45 reissues, Dylan, love, Joplin, etc etc, and swore of them because of the inconvenience factor. No sooner do you find the sweet spot in your chair that you're up and changing the side. Maybe need to get one of those wonderful automatic stacker decks.

Yes, my technique too, when I use the Basics Multipurpose - scrub with Badger Bristle shaving brush , rinse with hand-shower, dish-rack dry.

You washed its back in the shower? front, back and sides. Hmmmm. Ok. As long as what goes on in WILT stays in WILT, I'm taking Blondie out to the Southland Tavern and show her a good time.

Just picked this up on cd recently although I've had the vinyl release for years. A perfect record for night time listening under headphones.

cooksferry you need a ADC if you already have the vinyl. Playing now, soon to be followed by some Smog.

Fiio with your fav streaming service instead? I really can't see why you'd buy a cd if you have the vinyl! The other way around...yes!

to play in the car ? to satisfy the audiophile urge to have the same album in multiple formats.

I love being able to play offline content from my streaming service.
Easier than downloading all those pesky mp3 download cards that come with the vinyl version, and I get them at hi-res. Perfect for car, or outside headphone listening.

to play in the car ? to satisfy the audiophile urge to have the same album in multiple formats. I never listen to anything in the car but have to put my hand up as guilty on the multiple formats charge. You could extend that out to asking why 7 copies of Are You Experienced. 6 of Led Zep III etc. It's either the hoarder or my precious mentality. Tried streaming and digital audio(non cd), even purchased the Oppo HA1 amp to go down that path but just couldn't get into it, especially fighting with a computer that seemed to have a mind of its own. It nearly ended up in the veg garden a couple of times. Lp or cd, I enjoy the physical product and their ease of use.
