I just couldn't say no Grado PS1000 added to the stable. Grado collection now at 4 and wishing I hadn't sold my RS1. PS1000 is large, and heavy, heavier than my Audeze LCD3. Compare the size of the SR325x driver housing to the PS. Currently a source of frustration with a couple of points but there are fixes, some very cheap. Will any mods happen as per the 325 and SR60 ? Maybe a little . Metal rod blocks would be nice to stop the weight of the driver assembly dragging the rods down to the plastic stopper and a more padded headband is also on the to do list. Tried them with the Beautiful Audio ear pads and not sure if I go there as the genuine RS1 style pads seemed to work a little better but for comfort the BA pads are streets ahead. No intention of changing the massive cable. It's big but reasonably flexible so it stays.

Oh, and the wood box was a nice bonus. Still in good shape and reasonably expensive via Grado so happy to score that along with the extension cable. In true Grado style though not a patch on the box that my Oppo PM1 came in. Always something a little home made about their products which isn't necessarily a negative but some of their pricing seems excessive against the finished item. I guess still being hand made in the USA comes with a cost.

I just couldn't say no Grado PS1000 added to the stable. Grado collection now at 4 and wishing I hadn't sold my RS1. Here's Cook's (ahem) attempt at reigning in his 'completist' trait...oh dear: such an irrecoverable Grado fanboy!
credit where its due though: this deal was too hard to resist. If you're gonna go - go hard (an especially good score that incl. the desirable presentation box)
I'm booking in a listening session with yr PS1000s when I'm next down to Invers - Calexico incl?

My door is always open. If you're quick there's still some cognac that fell into my lap 😂 or a dram from Nippon.

Promises not to spend money on the PS1000 quickly shot down. These things sound so good it's worth going a bit deeper.
Alloy rod blocks ordered from Poland. These will allow me to lock the the cups in a fixed position vertically and an added benefit no swivelling cups to twist the cable. As a stop gap some small rubber o rings on the rods have stopped the uncontrolled downward plunge of the cups every time the phones are moved .
Also ordered is a pair of the correct Grado G cush bowl ear pads. A bit eye watering at $130 for a bit of foam but I wanted to start from the default position before going any further. Currently using my L pads which have the drivers touching my ears in places. The pads that came with the phones appear similar but have even less clearance.
Long term consideration to a set of the Beautiful Audio large pads or a set from Dekoni which look somewhat similar but half the price. Reviews for the latter are mixed with regards to changes in sq.
