There were many booths with sound deadening in them to listen more easily to the exhibits. But outside them it was quite noisy! A lot of makers were showing static displays with show goers chatting constantly in lots of languages. But even in the booths the door could be opening constantly to let people in and out, which lets in the noise from outside. So I agree, it wasn’t very relaxing. But lots of fun.

Yes, it is very noisy in the main halls. In theory you are not supposed to play music beyond very quiet on the open stands but this year there seemed less regard to this and there were some people doing "my bass is bigger than yours" bursts. The cabin we were in was remarkably insulated from that but it did mean that the door was closed most of the time, which is a problem in that this is not welcoming for people to come in. In the 'atrium' area there are demo rooms with a glazed entry but these are several times the cost of a cabin (which is about twice the cost of an open stand)....

I was particularly struck by the noise early on when Fremer was talking with Mrs. Project/EAT(Forgot her name) .

First paper (/ on-line) magazine review of The Wand 14-4 Turntable; LP Magazin from Germany. (issue 05/19) (With Wand 12in Master arm and Lyra Delos cartridge) Last paragraph...(Translated) "The Wand 14-4 is not a turntable for beginners and listeners who just want to hook it up and start listening. His somewhat idiosyncratic construction requires a little effort from the listener, who wants to deal with the matter. But as soon as he has let himself play the grooves from the "Wand", he will explore his LP shelf up and down and put up one LP after the other. The Wand 14-4 is on the whole much more than its parts may reveal, and the audiophile Olympus is not far from here. " Conclusion / Bottom line ...
“Impressive package from New Zealand, which combines one of the best single-point tonearms with a thrilling turntable to a sonorous and convincing whole.”

The prototype board for The Wand phono stage (and some other items that came in the post that day for scale). Unnamed as yet, have your say here! I like to have a connection to The Wand but I don't like to overwork the magic wording. So far some of the name suggestions are; (remember they also need to work in markets where English isn't first language) -The Leveller -The Analogue Decoder -Prospero -The Wand EQ The unnamed phono stage will be available as an option on The Wand 14-4 turntable and as a stand-alone unit. It is a 'cousin' of the Pureaudio LV-1

My 2 cents worth... The Leveller is a bit tame. How about The Terminator? "-The Wand EQ" OK, but I prefer "The Equaliser" "-The Analogue Decoder -Prospero" Don't like these two at all. First is too literally descriptive/sterile and wordy. The second is the opposite. The Wand Counterpart Or "The (Wand) Counterpoint" In music, counterpoint is the relationship between voices that are harmonically interdependent (polyphony) yet independent in rhythm and contour. Wand Maestro, I like but maybe too similar to The Wand Master. Maybe we should have a poll?

Blast, lost my reply somewhere in the Aethernet, which reminds me that I did dabble with "Aether" and "Faerie" as possibilities. (I was less serious about "The Thaumatic Amplifier" but rather liked it anyway...) Thanks guys, it was the sort of discussion I was hoping to get. Keen to see what it came up with. Partly that I think names are too important as a hint of what a products is to just to do serial numbers (OK, I have gone for Wand 14-4 for the turntable but it is descriptive of an important feature) I will probably present three options in the New Year for a vote (which won't be binding..... like Brexit...)

First PCB's were green (primal slime or green with envy?) so indeterminate gender..... Production ones will be Black as befits Kiwi Black discs..... and perhaps Black Goth magic stuff....or Bogan-Black teeshirt heavy metal LPs......
