Mine is OK - some paper dust from the inner sleeve & minor abrasion edge mark on one label, that's all. Vinyl is dished, but otherwise un-warped & pristine. ( michaelw should've kept that dished mat )

it wouldn't have done any good.
my side 1 was dished and damaged
side 2 was fine but bowled out so would not have fitted into the dished mat ...
my replacement kate bush set was fine

Owen Y What's the difference between dished and warped? Vinyl is dished, but otherwise un-warped & pristine.

Dished - no edge ripple/warp, but the middle is depressed in or out. ie. like a dish

( michaelw should've kept that dished mat ) Thanks I got that reference but always thought that was warped as well, dishing being a subset of warped. As for the paper dust, I'd say that 99.9% of records in paper sleeves have this and that is why I hate them so much! Are polyinners really that much more expensive than paper? And besides they don't scratch records, like most paper inners do.

PS. the record only sticks to the paper inner sleeve because of static. Get your (DarkLantern/ Graham-modified) anti-static record brush onto it & static gone!

Post by Citroen on Jun 12, 2017 20:48:06 GMT 12
Yes, but that's how they arrive from the store/factory. Static built up.
Best way to release a record - break shrink wrap on cover. Remove record. Tear off paper inner sleeve to avoid scratching record.

can't do that !
inner has writing on it.

Post by Citroen on Jun 12, 2017 22:46:32 GMT 12
Yeah, in this case.
I try to blow air in the sleeve to separate it from the record if it has static/sticks to record.

Nah, the human body conducts away static electricity. Just wash hands first

Touching the record when its stuck to the sleeve doesn't do much, IME

Touching the record when its stuck to the sleeve doesn't do much, IME You need to be devoid of woollen undergarments, preferably naked & barefooted on wood floor Oh, and always use cationic detergent shampoo.

This is a splendid album, inventive, every track a worthy one - a lot to listen to here, will reward further listening. John Parish's production is v good IMHO, simple, sympathetic, a bit distinctive but enhancing the artist's creativity, not showy. And a couple of nice guest vocal duets. After a good clean, only a few minor glitches remain on 2/2 (early) & some clicks on 2/3 & 2/4 (at/nr the end). A wee bit of what sounds like 'overload distortion' on 2/2 (around mid-track) - or maybe my fussy MC not liking the cooler temps Overall sound a touch 'dimly lit' maybe at the HF end, but maybe just my system here. I'd rather that way than the opposite ie. bright. Otherwise, aside from the dished vinyl, clean sounding, voice showcased centre & front. Thoughts?

Oh, you will recall..... one of the main reasons to clean records with non-ionic pure detergent (eg Triton X-100), is the removal static charges in the vinyl. Sheesh, I see that the young woman is just embarked on a 46-concert tour of USA, Europe, UK, lasting till end-Nov.

got my replacement - much better than the first one but still not a great pressing.
badly dished on side 2 but quiet.
side 2 a bit noisy.
and they didn't send me the 7in. run out. getting my first one back
stark contrast to the avanlanche city lp i bought from te warehouse.
that was nearly perfect, not a single tick, just a slight ripple.
sounds great too.
