I still have some of those old HiFi Choice mags too, and a copy of Hi Fi For PLeasure Cassette Digest 1981 My fav TDK SA is the late 70s/80s, black or brown shell, small window, brown stripe on the J-card. However most of my TDKs are brownshell small window TDK-SAX. Later versions with larger window SA and those with CD branding were less good. At the time I was mainly using a Nakamichi 480 with limited adjustment.

These are the ones I kept, bought new whenever 10 pack.
And now I have bookmarks from the previous main PC stalled Firefox, I've found found what I'd thought another great SA reference, but where is mine?
Great site to explore anyway.

Talking of cassette deck evolution in general, I just stumbled across this amazing Philips N2048 6 cassette, er, stacker, with a unique mechanism, 1974 - 1976. I mean on the web. First from a Techmoan YouTube repair view click-bait sidebar, but I quickly paused on the manual/blurb view and looked it up for better views.
Here's a great YouTube video of it in operation.
Just an aside note ;=})

That roller coaster mech is just asking for trouble lol A more conventional changer,
The tapes look like TDK MA-R which would be worth more than the deck !

Wow, I'd not heard of any cassette tape changer before this. Not that I'd want one. My Sony TC-RS80ES can withdraw the heads, flip 180º, and then engage the B side, if set to auto reverse. But that's something else! Hard to read, but looks like Pioneer CT-WM77R. A couple of YouTube videos I haven't watched yet: Amazing innovation, etc.

Maybe slightly very ugly and over priced, but this:
I've asked what height between shelves and depth of same, unanswered yet.
Custom made might be a possibility instead of waiting for something turning up by chance?
Should be simple.

With a good sand and repaint/stain that could be quite nice. And lockable. But too much work, too much dollars, too much depth (7 inches)

But the internal shelves are set back from the outer case front edge (and the ali door rails).
Earlier I did some brief calcs guessing that the shelf thicknesses might be 16mm or 18mm. I got 11.9cm or 11.65cm height between shelves. Vertically stacked tapes being 11cm h & 5cm deep.
But now he's posted pics 10-11-12 showing the height between at ~ 11.5cm, depth maybe 7.5cm (parallax, tape on a slope). They might have been made for cassettes. You could even get rid of the doors and rails for them, just have wood. Hang off wall, find studs? Or sit on existing cabinet, unused depth. Outer frame doesn't look too bad. Maybe just dusting and cleaning the inner shelves would do too.
I agree about the price. Offer BIN $50? After several re-lists he might take it? So I made a cheeky thank-you reply question...
Thanks for the extra photos. I didn't see them immediately. Looks like they would suit tape cassettes. Actually I was looking on behalf for a friend.
But sorry, I think even $100 is way too much. See how re-listing it goes, but I think $50 might be a more realistic start price. Thanks again. Cheers! ;=})
(American Pickers is one of the very few shows I like to watch on Freeview ... )

Offer declined It wasn't my offer!
Maybe whoever it is will give up and offer at $1 start, who knows?
I was just intellectually curious - I'm still using plastic drawers for tapes, but have a few wood bookshelves and cabinets.
Yeah maybe even $25 is too rich.

No, I made the seller an offer and it was instantly declined.
Yeah, even $50 seems a lot for this old cabinet! 🤣

Cheap shoddy construction, unfinished, not even sanded, let alone varnished, and RH side vertical not matching height.
Audio Cassette Shelf
Be discerning ! ;=})

OK maybe I was a bit harsh in criticism, maybe the internal shelves were briefly sanded. But pick up only, so moot. "Buyer must pick-up from Christchurch"

A good ol' Kiwi shake and he'll be spending the next year picking those up off the floor My version with videotapes, an experimental shelf not yet fastened to the wall. It didn't stand up! Now it is fixed. ;=})) This happened twice. I was in bed the first time. Ouch! But it will never happen again. The shelves are now lightly fixed to the concrete wall.
Cheers!
