Tannoy-time chez Dom!
I am really happy with this pair and the seller seemed normal, not some weirdo where I had to jump through hoops or justify myself as a worthy owner in some way. I hope I avoid becoming as weird as many Tannoy owners seem to be.
Anyway, yes, they are wholeheartedly worth the fuss and we love them, despite keeping them in pretty small cabinets.
Piano for scale. Har har. (paino not include in auction!!! - am I right?)

How wonderful, and what a lovely view of a room!
I forget, what model did you get? - and those look like nice suitable stands.
Best regards;- Ross

How wonderful, and what a lovely view of a room! I forget, what model did you get? - and those look like nice suitable stands. Best regards;- Ross Thanks Ross, I suppose the answer is that I got the Right ones.
As I embarked on the search I'd been dazzled by the 12" MG acolytes, most of whom perhaps live in countries with more choice and all have huge living rooms and/or no other family to consider.
Once I saw that 10" MGs were the most suitable, two beautiful sets almost immediately came into view. Don't you love that? These are 3LZs in Cadet cabinets and if we did find ourselves in a larger space, they'd go into a larger cabinet nicely.
The stands are the ones from my outgoing (hint, hint) Spendor BC1s. They're bespoke bent sheet steel but I'll probably get a set made up like this for the Tannoys. Can you explain what makes them suitable, IYO? Ones I see online seem to have lots of free space underneath, rather than chunky columns - but really I have no idea what's optimum.
Citroen, may Saint Audiofilus forever keep me from the madness that I encountered!!
"Oh, if you really want to hear them first I'll have to put them in some cabinets."
"If you want cabinets I won't sell you the pair in the photos I sent you - but how about these ones?"
"Oooh, are you sure you want Tannoys? They aren't cheap."
"Are these the same ones you bought last year in scrap chipboard cabinets that are now $1k more?"
"Those gouges should polish out, but you're only interested in what they sound like, aren't you?"
