The answer to question 1 is that the 3012 is larger and you cannot swap them.
Which means I'm reduced to trawling through eBay and Trademe in a futile exercise in hunt the rare as a unicorn's horn thing!
Unless someone can make one for me - I literally had the though whilst typing this up!

Hi Jon - it may be worthwhile contacting Charles at True Point Audio in the UK - he converted my 3009 to a 3012 and maybe able to supply parts for this - I don’t know if he supplies individual components vs the whole conversion kit - on the quality side I’ve been very happy with what he supplies Cheers Matt

Well, that was quick! Charles responded with a no, he does not have a wayrod. He has suggested a couple of other places I could try... onwards

Oh, yeah and I got some slate! Ex-billiard table, some 40mm thick. Dimensions are 1870X720X40mm Now to create the cutout plan (2 plinth layers, cutout in plinth layers, 3 tonearm boards) Why three tone arm boards? 1) For the SME 3012 2) For the Gray tone arm I have 3) For my Origin Live Illustrious Mark IV Owen was right, I have got billiard table slate! That tile weighs 120kg.

Great find jon. They don't come up very often in NZ or did you get it from overseas?

The 3012 came from a local guy in Wellington, he was a work colleague at one point. SO nice to catch up with him and so on.
The slate a friend saw and we bought a sheet each.

Not sure... the weird thing here is that a lot of people claim that their wayrod is a 3012 and when you ask for measurements they go all shy...
I'm not sure, but might get it anyway.
Thanks for pointing it out.
