Does anyone have the facility, and is willing, to flatten a couple of LP's for me?
I purchased a half speed mastered, direct disk labs copy of Moondance and it is badly warped. Cost a pretty penny too.

I have never been game to try it myself but apparently they can be flattened by placing them between 2 sheets of glass and then placing in an oven pre-heated to 65C for 30 minutes only. After this time the oven is turned off and the door opened to allow everything to cool for 3/4 to an hour. The raised edge of the record and the label is all that is in direct contact with the glass so in theory no damage to the track/grooves. Try it with a not to desirable record first !!!!! Good luck.

Have done a few myself, used baking trays and baking paper. From memory was about 100 deg for 20 min. Cool off on bench. The cooling is as important as the heating, and with PVC its a temperature/ time equation. Been a while since I did it but takes about 6 practice LP's. Allow a day for the process. As domestic ovens are not awfully temp accurate I found it easier to vary the time in the oven.

It would pay to employ one of these....

the above plus.. - clean your records and the glass before attempting flattening - use tempered glass, plain glass can shatter under heat stress - a weight on the record is usually needed in addition to heat if diy is too random then there are commercial devices... vinyl flat, owen and citroen have these with a heating pouch the big daddy of record flatteners, the furutech www.furutech.com/2013/02/02/1790/

I have placed an LP between sheets of glass and some evenly distributed weights on top of that. I put them on a flat table in a spare room and just left them. Two or three weeks later they were better. Not completely flat - maybe 75% effective - but good enough to play. No damage or harm to animals or the environment in this process.

This is a task that I have been wanting to experiment with, again. The ol' between-2-sheets-of-glass-in-the-sun trick can be successful, but it's hard to regulate the strength of the sun - I have ruined one record this way. I think the secret is in heat regulation. And slow controlled heating & cooling.

Gryffles rocl Totally missed this thread ( Owen Y is there a New Threads/Unread Threads button?) I'd happily give it a go. Only the logistics of getting the lps to and fro though. Oh, and I've only wrecked two lps in my Vinyl Flat (although one was a right off anyhow).

( Citroen - new threads & new posts are all highlighted under the "new!" flags on LHS of Home page.)

Ta. I was more looking for a global list of new posts rather than a flag under each thread, sub thread, or sub sub thread (which I tend to miss).

Ta. I was more looking for a global list of new posts rather than a flag under each thread, sub thread, or sub sub thread (which I tend to miss). As far as I can tell, this option is only available on mobile view where there is a 'view recent posts' thingy toward the bottom of the page... The only way to navigate the site afaic...

Excellent Heathen! Found at the bottom but only on mobile version, as you say. Owen Y anyway to add this to the desktop view? The Desktop 'new!' flag covers both. I use this, I read every post, never miss anything - just a matter of forming a habit. (I don't think I can customise this anyway, without writing code )

hope that pot doesn't leak. doilies and rosewood furniture ? Dried arrangement, no water in pot - definitely a no no! my speakers are the only rosewood furnishings, couple of armchairs with teak frame, and an old oak table, large stuffed sofa!

The mobile version is great, as it just lists all the new threads, so no need to open each board, sub board
