It cost over $500 to send the big Denon to Perth, plus insurance. Once a consignment exceeds 30kg it becomes Freight, and starts to become very expensive to send anywhere.

I doubt it would get to Aus for anything near $200... Id guess it would be well north of that figure once a sturdy wooden crate had been made and packed properly. But hey maybe the bloke in Aus reckons its worth it. Worth is an interesting word in itself...worth and value just mean what someone is prepared to pay!

Excellent! Can't wait for a detailed restoration diary Graham...and a final sound quality comparison check.

That was quite a hard-out auction in the end with just one other strong bidder. Anyway, Aura secured and on its way to the Maestro for whatever it needs. We won't be in a hurry with Graham heading away for a holiday but I'm sure he will supply some good pics as he goes along. I am happy to give it a solid restore rather than just a facial, so we'll see what it needs (at the moment it needs all the WAF it can pick up ...).

Well done Paul. Great to see it is going to a 'good home' where it will be appreciated after being sadly neglected for some time. I can handle the restoration but the WAF part is your problem !!!!!

The Aura has been collected from Real Groovy and is now sitting safely in my workshop. I haven't completely stripped it down yet but have removed the crucial main spindle bearing and can report that it is in perfect condition. Whew !! I will start a rebuild thread once that process begins. Cheers Graham
