Ah, although we know that measurements often don't tell us everything This preamp sounds v good however, very listenable, powerful, dynamic, without edgy artifacts or such....

Measurements will tell you, but are we measuring the right things? And interpreting the results according to psychoacoustics? ๐

Yes, I think that we often do not measure the right things. Or do not know how to measure all the right things. eg. We know now of course that lowest distortion is not the whole story. I've found however, that measurements can sometimes help explain what you're hearing.

Final measurements: 6SN7-WOT Linestage Gain is 4.8x ( 13.6dB) - around 50% lower than the previous 76-6SN7 cathode follower linestage, due mainly to the 4:1 OPT. I'm listening now at around 11 o'clock volume setting - around -27dB attenuation, which still leaves plenty of power headroom.

Ok. Your speakers are very sensitive and itโs good the TVCs are giving enough adjustability to the volume settings.
