Hi Owen,
Any chance we could have an FAQ on posting photo's and creating an Avatar please. Some of us old less techno savvy geezers might find it of use !

guitardude - we have put up a note about posting photos/images at: darklantern.proboards.com/thread/22/forum-navigationThe main reason for this note was because this Forum has restricted storage space (for images etc), after which you pay for more space. However, if you use the ' Add Image to Post' button (rather than the 'Add Attachment' button), images are stored on an external site (imgbb, similar to Dropbox) rather than in Forum space. (This is done via a 'Plugin' feature added by us (admin team!). Creating avatars - yup, will get back to you on this soon - I'll post this at the above Forum Navigation and FAQ page. Cheers. Update 2018: We suggest using the imgur site for storing your forum images. Create an account (Private if you wish), load images (downsized to 15" monitor size), copy the BBcode & paste into your post here. Imgur imgaes appear full size (instead of thumbnails when using imgbb site).

An avatar would be a great idea GD... I've often wondered exactly what a cynical bastard looks like...

I can't seem to get the "Add Image To Post" link to work.
Adding image from my computer or dragging and dropping isn't working.
Copying the URL and pasting is the easiest way to upload pics, as you don't have to save it to your computer first. So the Add Image URLs would seem to be the way to do this, but that doesn't work either.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I am having a problem with 'Add Image to post' not working from my computer just from yesterday. However, 'Add image to post' works from internet image URLs. Is that what's happening on your computer? (michaelw is having no problems.)

Chaps - would prefer if 'Add Attachment' is not used, as it fills up limited forum storage space & images will eventually need to be deleted to free up space. Use ' Add Image to Post' if you can - sorry there seems to be a problem for some , trying to sort it out, patience please.

Nothing works from the Add image to post for me.
I thought that maybe I need to be logged in to that imgbb site, so did so via my google account. But still nothing.

Citroen - plse try again the 'Add image to post' - I sent a message to imgbb & it's working for me now. (Coincidence?)

When I click Add image to post I get this window When I click "browse from your computer", it lets me select an image from the hard drive but then just defaults back to the same window, as below. If I click Add image URLs then nothing happens. I can drag a picture to the window but then I don't have any options to actually insert it into the post. So, no change for me. (Above pics added as attachments. Owen feel free to delete from server).

Citroen - keep trying the imgbb - it may come right, as for me. Or possibly, imgbb may have blocked you - I also switched off my browser adblocker for imgbb.com And messaged them via imgbb.com/contact

Was that using the "add image to post link" or "Add attachment"?
Add attachment is OK for me but not Add image to post

'Add image to post' uploads go to the imgbb site (will see imgbb logo) - the other way does not go to imgbb.

Oh, and while we're all having a whinge - Owen, I feel I've served my time as a 'new member' and wondered if I could have a title now? I dont need a full knighthood - but perhaps an 'esquire' or a 'forum nuisance' might be fitting? Other than that, congratulations on a fine start to a new local forum. Bravo!

Hi Owen,
For the record I wasn't having a whinge just asking for an FAQ on how to do photo's and avatar. However wee johnny does raise a valid point: it' feels strange to see all the old audioenzers on here described as new members. I've no suggestions on titles but perhaps we could all have a go at suggesting a suitable one for little Johnny ? (i'm thinking "thrush" or "piles" might be a suitable description...)

No worries at all guitardude, any Qs are welcome - we'll answer if we can. Unfortunately I have not studied the member 'ranking' designations, but will look into it. No idea why I should be a 5-star General Stay posted.

Was that using the "add image to post link" or "Add attachment"? Add attachment is OK for me but not Add image to post i thought answered this last night but my post has vanished ? i used "add image" because there are no size constraints like "add attachment". it's easier to upload an image from my pc without faffing about re-sizing.

So I tried again and it failed.
So I thought why not try on a different browser, so switched to Internet Explorer (from my beloved Chrome) and HEY, it works!
Damn, as I really don't want to have to use IE...

Damn, as I really don't want to have to use IE... then use opera like me - heaps better than chrome. slight exaggeration, but significantly faster. i loaded some easy peasy. maybe i'm more cleverer than you.
