Reading Cooks posts about Richard Thompson, I pulled the only cd I have of his out of the drawer - You? Me? Us? from 1996. I bought it after reading a rave review - I think in AudioEnz - but it didn't take with me at the time. Played it again twice this week, and again have to report it hasn't taken with me. Richard is a brilliant guitarist, but his voice just grates with me! His vocals seem one dimensional and forced. Do have one LP of Fairplort, never played it, so will give it a clean sometime soon and have a listen. Have an LP, looks of similar era and genre, by SteekEye Span (writing that name from memory so not sure if that is the name of the group) - would,it be worth a listen?

Speaking of Richard Thompson, have you got Henry the human fly ? I'd agree with you about Rumour and sigh, I only have it on CD. Great Society I prefer to airplane sorry ! Yes, have Henry on vinyl and cd. The only RT lps I'm missing on vinyl are Mirror Blue and Guitar.Vocal . Hoping for a Mirror Blue reissue at some stage.

You?Me?Us, not one that I've ever warmed to I'm afraid. Haven't played it in years. Agree that his voice can be an acquired taste . I've always felt that his singing is much better on his live recordings. There are several self released 'bootlegs' that he's put out that I feel up his game.

Wake up this morning to a bunch of notifications in the mail. Flying Burrito Brothers-Gilded Palace of Sin (from Import cds), SACD, Intervention Records. Got the earlier vinyl version, very good but my copy was a bit warped. Too much hassle returning via Amazon USA so kept it and of course the SACD will be nice and flat Pearls Before Swine- One Nation Underground - Fiftieth Anniversary Mono Restoration vinyl from Amazon UK No Man- Returning Jesus, vinyl and cd reissue/remaster both with signed cards by Steven Wilson and Tim Bowness. If I had to keep only one branch of Wilson's prodigious output it'd be the No-Man releases he did with Bowness, especially the last 3 albums, Returning Jesus, Together We're Stranger and Schoolyard Ghosts. I already have at least 4 vinyl and digital versions of Returning Jesus but it will be interesting to see what the latest remaster brings to the table. With his work for him self and bands like Jethro Tull, XTC, Yes etc Wilson has certainly gained plenty of experience since the original release.

The one to get Owen is the 2017 reissue on Intervention Records. You'll find it on Amazon.com and places like Import cds. Not particularly cheap but nicely done down to the cover. Has rave reviews on the Hoffman site and Fremer's review will be more enlightening that my poor attempts www.analogplanet.com/content/flying-burrito-bros-gilded-palace-sin-finally-reissued-correctlyI also have the 4MWB version but haven't done a comparison. Was going to do so on Sunday but can't find where I filed the Intervention version .Will have to search harder.

Hey Cooks www.wowhd.co.nz/gilded-palace-of-sin/684334915768 NZ $71.58 incl. shipping -how does this compare? I reckon ImportsCD and WowHD are operating under the same structure now. Over the last year or so, Ive noticed exact marketing and pricing.

No, cheaper via Import cds, about NZ$61 (US$41.56 with shipping). I've had a couple of MoFi lps from them recently and packaging was fine.

Making a conscious effort to cut down on the purchases but a couple or two on the way
Townes Van Zandt- Rear View Mirror, 2xlp sort of a greatest hits from TVZ in stripped down form , live and done when his voice was still in fair shape. Had a cd version for many years, always enjoyable.
The Rolling Stones, On Air, BBC session. Have the double vinyl from the UK and the Shm double cd from Japan coming. Not expecting revelations or sonic marvels, just a time warp to my teens will do.
Neil Young, Harvest Moon, black Friday double lp. Reports on this are generally positive and the price wasn't bad so why not.
Rainer- Worried Spirits, double lp on the way from Fire Records via Bandcamp.
And that rather sadly means I now have nothing left on my wishlists anywhere. Only temptations to look forward to are the long rumoured deluxe, Steven Wilson remastered first two Roxy Music albums.

Mas Canciones (mine is German too ) - a follow-up companion to 'Canciones de mi Padre'. My fav Linda R. albums. darklanternforowen.wordpress.com/2016/07/15/linda-ronstadt-canciones/'What's New' & 'For Sentimental Reasons' - there's also a 3rd (2nd actually) album 'Lush Life' in the trilogy recorded with Nelson Riddle Orch around the same time ('83-'86). 32 songs in total, was issued as a 3LP box set 'round Midnight'. Have Canciones de mi Padre also, but on CD. I remember now, I had a three cassette set of Linda and Nelson Riddle many years ago, forgot one of them was titled "Lush Life", now that is on the want list too! Finally completed the set! Have been looking for a copy of. Lush Life for some time. Found a 2nd hand copy online at Real Groovy at $9.95, in Feb this year, but postage to home doubled the cost, and they were out of my favourite inner sleeves so couldn’t find anything I wanted to bump the price up to $50 or more for free shipping. But in Auckland last couple of weeks, RG opened on Thursday 14th, walked along for a visit, and they still had it! Looks mint, very tidy cover.

Ingrid and the Ministers arrived today, a couple of days for delivery via Bandcamp. Psychedelic Frock'n'Roll is the genre, all the way from Wellington. Great stuff. Bandcamp link: ingridandtheministers.bandcamp.com/

It could be a long wait. While reading the Ginger Baker auto biog I realised that I didn't have the Blind Faith album in my collection. I did have it on release but obviously hadn't connected that well so long gone. Did some listening and decided to get a copy, cd as I'm a lp free zone now for purchases. I went with the Japanese Platinum Shm cd from 2013 which has some positive reports . Purchased from CD Japan, a very reliable seller I've used in the past and the item was shipped on the 25/7. Last post in the tracking was leaving Tokyo on 29/7. Allowing three weeks for the current mail situations from some countries I decided to contact the seller yesterday and they quickly replied asking me to wait until the end of October before panicking. That's going to be some wait but a 1st world problem. www.discogs.com/Blind-Faith-Blind-Faith/release/6468110
