Hey Citroen,
Home is in Ruawaro (affectionately known as south-central west Huntly) That's Lake Whangape in the photo. Not visible in the photo due to lighting is a castle on the other side of the lake - how some people live! Yes, I can turn the music up as loud as I like but prefer to keep it down these days to protect the hearing I still have! Derek.

Hi Derek,
Best not to see that faux castle IMHO.
Huntly has one of the best bakeries for custard filled donuts.

Passed through Whanganui and got a sunset shot of one of the bridges from the lodge window.

A new view from our east facing verandah - created when I cut down two near 100 yr old multi trunked macrocarpa trees. A shame to fell them, but getting old and brittle, large branches falling off in storms posing a bit of a danger. Now have stacked away enough firewood for at least 4 years, plus I sold 5 tonnes of large straight trunks to a local sawmiller. Kept 4 trunks for myself to slab with my Alaskan mill (hard work), which I then rip down into 150 and 200x50s with my skilsaw. Will have enough timber to build a shed/garage where you see my car parked. Keeps me busy in my retirement! Should have taken a before shot, but you get an idea of the size of the trees by the size of the stump of one of them inthe third photo! I tried to use the photo of me with the Alaskan mill as my avatar, but if is too big and I have not yet learned to photo edit on an iPad.

Amazing, those chainsaw mills. Where are you located, with such nice outlook & environs?

Doubtless Bay, about 17k in the hills behind Mangonui. So many beaches to choose from!

Full Moon over Island Bay, I prefer the first shot with the clouds over the moon as the foreshore is visible.

Oh dear, still getting the 'very convincing' sound of a jet aircraft travelling through my soundstage, ...tonight was upper right to middle

on the other hand, the soundstage to the south is OK and has no 'jet' interference...all is good

Beautiful white sands of Otama Beach. Finally found a spot where this southern man might have to concede points to the north.

Great weather for Coromandel. (I was born there.) I could probably do a few degreed cooler Owen. The Coromandel was number 1 on my wife's to see list and to be honest we weren't over impressed coming up the west side from Akld but once we found Otama beach and Opito Bay the magic happens. Enjoying the tranquility after the big smoke and spend many happy minutes each morning watching the domestic life of a family of Quail that forage around the house. Wishing I had a better camera than the one in my phone.

The ocean side (east) is special. The west coast is a low lying meander along the Firth of Thames, has a different feel.

Love the 309 road on the Coromandel. Is there honey still available there? Saunton Beach near where we live in North Devon, I walk there most weeks.

From the 3rd storey roof top of my old place in K'Rd, Auckland, 2008, a telescopic view of the Waitakere aerial, and part advertising closer by. Long live radio! ;=})

We did, but the sea did not come any near us. So followed the drama in Stuff.
