Watched this too. A perfect opposite to the above performance where gimmickry is eschewed in favour of mastery, these guys are loose, sloppy and awkward but... Quite a treat to watch nonetheless. Adore his use of loops and sequences...

I've had the laziest long weekend full of stuff like this...
Seems these guys will either put in a truly raw, aggressive performance... Or they'll fuck it up completely. Here's a tight wee show which shows them in a completely different light than say, their studio releases, and gives a whole other take on the songs this way... Unusual venue. But they make it work.

rmc001 - is it true that Martha Argerich wouldn't touch the Prokofiev No,2? You know that I will be googling Yuja Wang's rendition tomorrow Thanks.

That could be right. :-) Jorge Bolet once admitted he couldn't play some Chopin Etudes (op. 10?, as op. 25 exists). They were too intricate.

There are some things that my memory wont let go and this song is one. Seems to have been part of my DNA forever. Sunday visits to relations on their farm and this song seemed to be a constant sound track. Always on request radio here right through the 60s. No escaping your past.

What a stellar performance! Oh to have been there!? And worse yet, I missed this tour simply because I never got around to buying tickets... He mollests that guitar in ways unfathomable and yet somehow, this is so close to note-for-note from the album performance... Incredible. Love how he deals with his strap issues. A genuine rock n roll monster was unleashed on this afternoon...

Think I wore out my 45 copy-still love, must try and find a good copy. Not all the original version. I always felt the Aussies were a few steps in front of us musically.

My wife and I went to see A Place To Bury Strangers a couple of years ago in Auckland at Kings Arms . Fantastic concert . When we went in, the people on the door saw a old couple coming in and tried to warn us off saying it going to be loud and it was loud but bloody good .

a couple from Richard Thompson. I Feel So Good, from one of my Fav Thompson records, Rumor and Sigh. Due for reissue my MoFi on vinyl and SACD soon. One of those songs that I seem to have committed everything to memory after one listen.
When the Spell Is Broken. Like the band with Gregson and Collister providing harmony vocals. "When love has died, There's none starry-eyed No kiss, no tears, No farewell souvenirs Not even a token, when the spell is broken"
The man knows the dark side.

Songwriter's Circle.... I am reminded of Lyle Lovett (with John Hiatt, Joe Ely)....

I've just time travelled back decades: B&W TV - William Hartnell as the Dr. etc. Boards of Canada, Air, Kraftwerk - my arse...here's the real deal...
"I see music as a lifetime affair." [Rory Gallagher]
"Free - I miss that band, but when I look back, we were very young" [Paul Rodgers]

Check this girl out. Such a mature vocal. An ability to shift and play with register seamlessly and effortlessly. Stunning natural talent. Oh, and as cute as a bean!

More Talking Heads... Such tight performers, excellent sound quality through the desk and properly produced vintage video. Nicely done.

Like her a lot, hard to categorise, she played in Akld last year as I recall. I was disappointed to have overlooked that date. Marty Duda's report on that concert - www.13thfloor.co.nz/?p=77268

Gorgeous little soul, this guy. A pure creative and music lover is my guess. Perfect watching in bed with a coffee on a Sunday morning. A beautiful topless lady next to me, kids playing quietly at the other end of the house... What more can a man want?
