LPs have more complexity in production, also targeting a collector's market (much more than CDs). The Rattle/Berliner recording if I remember correctly was done with a more traditional recording technique. Collectable classical LPs can be extremely expensive, there are also new labels that target this market, eg. ERC does reissues of collectables, all done in traditional tube equipment, each LP is rougly 300-500 Euros.
