That is bad news, Citroen. My 8150 is with Gary M for refurbishment.

What's the news on the Plin sub? Do you think he'd like to look at another one?

Still waiting. As he said, his PureAudio commitments take priority. Haven't heard from him, except to say it had arrived. Which is ok with me, as still happy with the 2100i. Yours sounds like something has come adrift (dropped?), maybe Mark Maloney might be faster. I remember him saying he has worked on several Plinius amps.

Good thinking, although Mark is so busy. I wonder if deano1974's Krell is still in pieces there!?

Some progress at last. Late September had an email from Gary M advising the R op amp in phono section was dead, and would replace both op amps with newer, superior devices.
Another email today to advise op amps replaced, everything seems fine and had been on soak test for 7 hours without issue, and we started organising a return to me, then at the 11th hour the original problem raised by the seller occurred and was traced to a faulty power regulator in the +ve power regulator for the preamp. Gary will replace the part now and install a larger heat sink. Great news, can’t wait to have it hooked up!

Citroen , that’s what I did, it will take time, been nearly 3 months so far, but that is what I expected with Gary’s commitment to PureAudio. For me, well worth the wait!

Woo hoo, it’s on its way home! GaryM only charged just under $235, including courier home - that plus cost of purchase, plus courier down, total cost $728, almost half the price the last 8150 went for on TM. I think this will be my last amp (barring winning Lotto) as it should see me out. Very reasonable hourly rate, and the parts didn’t cost much at all!

Hats off for NZPost - sent from Wellington Friday, arrived Far North rural today! That is amazing. Gave myself a scare setting the amp up -the home theatre bypass switch had been activated either in transit or while installing, which I did not notice, and volume control did not work, not only full volume when at 0 but cross talk across all scources! Penny dropped, flicked the switch and perfection!

Been sitting back and listening for a few days now, when I can that is. Mostly playing LPs through the 8150 built in phono section (which is configured for MC). Very impressed, not missing the Dynavector P75/3 at all. Bass and mid range pretty much on a par, but treble is sweeter with more air. The albums I have played so far came across with a nice clean, silent background - mind you they have been through the US RCM. I do have to turn the volume up to about 11,whereas the Dyn was happy around 10. Will listen a bit more, but it looks like I might be selling the Dyn!

Sad day @chez Citroen's McIntosh pre-amp stopped working, so thought oh well at least I have my Plinius 8150 which I kept as a back up. Hasn't been used for about a year but was working perfectly before then for many many years. Plugged it in and NOTHING. Fuse OK. When moving it I noticed a slight rattle inside, as if a small piece had broken off something, or maybe a dead roach... Did you send it off to Gary M for repair? Is it back working again? Another matter, Citroen, I can’t find the post, but I am sure you mentioned the brand of a universal remote that worked with your 8150? I want one that will manage volume and mute.

Haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.
The universal remote I use is a Logitech. They have lots of models and of you only need those to control, a very basic one will do the trick.
I think mine's a Harmony One.
